| Comments: | Became an instant hit with a scoring debut against Stoke City at Burnden Park in a 1-1 draw. With his excellent silky skills Frankie Worthy became a colt hero and went on to win the golden boot in the old 1st division 1978-79 with 24 league goals. Many will remember the goal he scored against Ipswich Town with a flick over England's Terry Butcher and a sweet volley. Bolton lost the game 2-3 with Sam Allardyce netting the other goal. Always the clown, when running back to take the re-kick he pointed to the stand and said to Butcher "You'd have got a better view from up there". |
