  1. The "Chequers" proposals that TM took to Saltzburg contained a good number of compromises on our part. For the EU to reject them out of hand & without any compromise from their side looks like they are not negotiating in good faith. My guess would be that they think that if they wait long enough, TM will be sabotaged at home by both extremes of the Brexit debate & by the political opportunism of the opposition parties. At this point it looks like TM can only start to plan seriously for a "no deal " which would be bad for us ( especially in the short term ) BUT would also be bad for the EU, which might concentrate the minds of the EU, cause a few splits amongst them & force them to stop grandstanding & start to negotiate in good faith for the best deal for both sides

  2. Because it’s a pile of cack do we take the decision to surrender our democratic vote and the will of our people and suck up whatever the EU dictates, or do we stand firm and see through what we voted for?

  3. I’m not sure what my having a property in Spain has anything to do with it. I’ve lived here over 50 years and will continue to have a property here all my life. Seems some folk want to use the fact I’ve a property in Spain as a stick to beat me with, sad and pathetic really.

  5. Not as far as I'm concerned it isn't - I don't give a fuck about the bigger picture of the future for generations to come. I'm bothered about myself and the here and now......as I suspect are most. Once I'm dead I don't care what happens to the UK to be honest

  6. Mine are you daft shite. As are those of the rest of the supply chain. When a rot sets in, it starts relatively small. It then expands as confidence dips, and if you have a looming shitstorm such as Brexit, it becomes a full blown disaster. But you're Mr Commerce, so I don't need to tell you that. Speak to me in 12 months when this total clusterfuck finally sinks through that jaded skull of yours.

  8. The Sky piece makes out that the company was located there when he joined it... ‘In 1984 and still in his 30s, he was headhunted to run Strix Group - a two-year-old manufacturer of thermostats for electric kettles based on the Isle of Man - by its founder and inventor John Taylor.’

  9. Who? Let's have some examples. I assume you don't actually have any personal experience of exports? I also assume you don't speak to people overseas on a daily basis, and that you get your information second/third-hand form whichever source suits you? Finally, don't fucking patronise me about how commerce works. You haven't got a clue.

  11. You forget that the EU has a massive trade imbalance with the UK and need our 39 billion. That is a big carrot to dangle and one they won’t want to miss out on. The EU will take this to the wire but inevitably as they always do, miraculously come up with a deal that is closer to what we are prepared to accept. They are like a poker player with only one modus operandi it’s so easy to read and it’s about time we went all in and called their bluff.

  14. Nope there no suprise but surely you don’t think Brexit voters decisions would be swayed by the EU being difficult do you, in fact the EUs intransigence strengthens leavers resolve to leave and underlines what a fantastic decision it was that we voted out.
