  2. I've been pretty quiet on here over the last few seasons. Mostly due to the sheer fucking despair at our situation and the tailspin we have ended up in. But also because I was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer about 18 months ago. It was shock. I was pretty young to get it (55 at the time). I'd been to Dr's about summat else and he sent me for a blood test and they picked it up. At first it was 'low grade, low risk'. I had regular blood tests and a biopsy. That was bloody horrible. Anyway, I went for more tests and they said that it had got worse and they needed to act before it spread. I had my Prostate gland removed in August last year. It was a pretty miserable time. I was off work 6 weeks. I had a catheter fitted, could hardly walk. Just shit really. But - when I got the results back following the op they said that there were clear margins around the gland so it hadn't spread. I will be having 3 monthly blood tests and consultations for the foreseeable but so far it's all looking good. I have been very lucky. Some of you will know that I do a bit of running, I used to try to encourage folk off here to do Parkrun. As I had some warning before the operation I figured my best hope of a faster recovery was to get as fit as I could beforehand and hopefully retain some of it. I did my first ever marathon, Bolton hill marathon (a bit embarrassing as I've been running 20 years!) and that went ok so I did my first ever Ultra marathon a fortnight later (5 Passes ultra in Lakes, 33 miles). That was a long day out - 10 hours! - but I went round with 2 lasses from our running club and we had a great day. I have gradually got fitness back starting with low goals and building up and up. Although I don't think I will ever really be how I was before I am in not bad shape now, physically. I wanted a goal to aim for both as part of my recovery and also as a big Fuck You to cancer. I decided to do the Joss Naylor Challenge. It's not a race, you can do it whenever you like. It appealed because it is aimed at over 50's and you get longer to complete it the older you are. It's 48 miles across the Lakes and 17,000' ascent. I have 15 hours to do it in. It also appealed because part of it is to raise money for a charity of your choice. I have chosen Prostate Cancer UK. I've been training hard over the last months since recovering from the op. Been up to Lakes virtually every weekend and getting the miles in recceing the route. Can I do it? I honestly don't know, I'll find out next month. I'll give it a bloody good shot though. https://www.gofar.org.uk/jossnaylorlc.html If anyone can spare a quid or so then it would be very gratefully received. https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/simon-fox24 Also if anyone wants to talk about any Prostate Cancer concerns then PM me. Cheers.

  14. I have mentioned previously about a customer of mine who has had previous dealings with KA. He was also involved with the Chinese takeover of Northampton. He told me two years ago that another Chinese consortium were interested in BWFC but they would not deal with KA.

Shandong Luneng stuff may go nowhere, but they’re back for a sniff having previously been put off trying to deal with KA... said it god knows how many pages back, the only bit of ITK I have is dealing with him put people off... serious people don’t want to be taken for a ride and he kept trying that. Howard alluded to it, and reading between the lines Taylor is alluding to it in his quotes about focusing the mind. I’m remarkably at ease if/when admin happens, people will come in for us who were interested before because they no longer have to deal with KA... no idea who or if they’ll be any good for us but it’ll be reet...

  18. Yet another one who seems to like to pull me up from time to time, certainly feels like it even if it isn't intended as such. As I've said on my edited post above I've not confused anything, I went so far as to state in the post you replied to that I wasn't fully sure what how the procedure and timings of the recordings actually pan out - and that's why I questioned it myself! "Did he really put £5m of his own money into the club (which is still there!) or was there some sort procedural process that explains the out of sequence of BM being paid before the club received Ken's £5m?". As for Iles quote, I did consider the irony of using it at the time but my intent was to show the indicative view of the esteemed journalist at the time of the BM potential Administration threat some 8/9 months ago, being a massive funding gap was going to hit us within a year - and a massive funding gap actually hitting us 8/9 months later, yet people (not necessarily on this forum) still wondering why the club hasn't been paying the players, staff and everybody else for quite a while? I do agree that Ken is all but history and would be more than happy to put him behind us but on this occasion all I've done was to answer another's posters question the best I could (I note nobody else has attempted to do it) mention a few anomalies I found whilst doing so and even openly asking for other posters input as to correcting what I had put. How fairer and open than that could I be? If you were simply attempting to be helpful in this respect then thank you and I do apologise as your post seems to have come across to me as some sort of rebuke over some people's apparent established view of me that I somehow can see no wrong in Ken Anderson. Onwards and upwards for all of us from now on hopefully.

  24. Christ there's a lot of casual racism on here. How insecure, uninformed and inbred do you have to be to have a go at our potential saviours when we're staring into the abyss? What's the difference between a Wanderers fan and a baby? The baby will stop whining after a while. Sort it out FFS. We're Bolton Wanderers not UKIP.

  25. You're welcome mate. I don't think I've nailed it but no one else seems to have added to, or taken away from what I wrote, so I guess it's the best explanation of things we have for now. A couple of the things that did surprise me when trying to compose and research the answer was the time-line of events seems to contradict everybody's assumption (mine too up to then) that the £5m that Eddie gave to Mr Anderson was the same that he put into the club, then the club paying off BM. The time-line clearly shows the BM was settled BEFORE KA paid £5m into BWFC! Did he really put £5m of his own money into the club (which is still there!) or was there some sort procedural process that explains the out of sequence of BM being paid before the club received Ken's £5m? The other thing was the shortfall of £13m that needed to be addressed this season between income and expenditure. Hardly surprising then if that really was/is the case that no one's been paid really. Anyway all this will soon be forgotten as we are now in the year of the Pig and just waiting to be renamed Bolton Red Dragons, playing out of the Bird Nest Stadium, Horwich. Chiang Kai-shek for now!

  26. Speaking from experience, very much doubt they will want to pay over the odds for a club on its knees, this doesn't mean they won't be decent owners though.

  27. Bingo. It's this very 'racism' type comment that created ukip etc in the first place. If mainstream parties grew a pair, and reflected and dealt with concerns, then Farage wouldn't have had the impact he did. No doubt a few idiots will be continue to associate with truly extreme parties, but better they are out in plain sight anyhow.

  30. Going back to the littering issue, I walk a lot in the Bolton countryside and and a few weeks ago (when it was sunny) felt ashamed at the amount of litter I saw. Went and bought a litter picker and spent three days clearing shit up. Must have filled 40 bin bags and just left them on the road next to red bags that I've noticed get used by either volunteers or people who get paid to collect litter. I think these bags sometimes get ripped open by foxes unfortunately, but I wasn't taking them to the tip in my car. They've all been collected since and I still got to enjoy a walk, but did some good too. Made me feel good to be honest. As for Cliff Morris, his stain on the local Labour party will take a long time to go.

  35. He's done some great stuff and the Saturday R5 show has helped with many a tedious journey up to Bolton games for me. Also up his own arse a lot - and let's face it, you don't have to comment on anything on Twitter, so if you do then best make it squeaky clean. On that show he had a regular thing of playing circus music while imagining chimps wandering out dressed as various famous people. As a mind game it was quite good - but you kind of had to be there. If you put something related out to the whole world who don't know the back stry you're asking for trouble. I'd defy anyone not to cheer their day up with these two clips from the Baker and Kelly show though: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Hhk8VVS2AU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YcX1lc1SlDc

  36. My problem with this kind of thing is certain people will constantly mention for instance Brexit Party & racists though they will deny they think they are one & the same thing, however the inference is always there. The constant drip feeding is intended to paint anyone who votes for the Brexit Party as such. I think the point TMG is trying to make is that the effect these insiduos references are tending to have is to harden the views of those they are aimed against. I voted to leave the EU for my own reasons, though I respect the people who voted to remain & see no reason to publicly debate their own personal reasons for doing so. However if anyone feels that the need to assume that I must be a racist they can kiss my white honkey arse 😁
