  1. Remember when you were chastising folk for not getting accountancy Good job they’re more lenient with you about football because that comment is more clueless than anything that us “morons” ever wrote in the Sluffy and Custard thread Utter fuckwit

  2. Expectations. Their fans expect to walk the league, get promoted and certainly beat a team in our position. We on the other hand are still in la la land simply because we exist and so far we expect nothing. A couple of decent performances and some signs of improvement from the regular 5 nil thrashings may bring a swift end to that - I'm already hearing talk of survival and that's the first step down the road to having expectations. Bit daft really seeing as today Southend and Tranmere both won and Stanley managed a draw so now we're 15 points behind Portsmouth and they have a game in hand on us so that task got bigger if anything. Question is how much further can we improve this season? The lads seem to be putting in 100% already but they can certainly gel more as a team when they know each other better, getting a striker in may help and not every team we play will have the quality of Sunderland so there is some hope, but folk should be very wary of getting carried away. Personally I won't mind if we get relegated, but the moment folk start expecting us to survive will spell the end of the feel-good factor that has become the inspiration of the squad and the manager and ultimately the driving force behind our renaissance. I'll be gutted if all the progress is undermined by wankers who are incapable of simply being grateful that we still exist and start getting on the players/managers back if we have a bad game or we don't survive. Rebuilding from scratch is a long, slow process and there will definitely be bumps along the road.

  3. After only 2 games these lads already look like a team, something that's been lacking for a couple of years. I'm not that bothered if our points deduction proves too much and we get relegated, i don't think this current crop will go down without a fight, but if we do go down we'll start again in div 2 and enjoy the rebirth of our club. Our vocal support has been absolute quality so far this season, it makes me proud.

  4. Never works out like that though does it look at the Bunney situation. It’s worked out ok with chicksen but won’t every time Wright went off yesterday and say he’s out for 2 weeks as an example. Zouma comes in and we look a little less solid again.. bridcutt and/or either of the current wingers get a knock and we’re scratching around again the current XI will be playing more or less week in week out so the chances of them picking up suspensions quickly increases... we could, very suddenly be back to square one

  8. Buying a Season Ticket is a choice. Paying your Council Tax isn't. As long as I've got a football team to support, I'm happy. Only in extreme circumstances, such as potential liquidation, will I get concerned about our finances. Each to their own though.

  9. Never let it be said I won't share the joy ON THIS DAY: 22 SEPTEMBER 1984: Bolton Wanderers 7 Argyle 2; a personal nightmare for 'keeper Geoff Crudgington, whose horrific 7th minute blunder set the example for the rest of the team to match. A comedy of errors followed, and with 15 minutes to go and bottom-of-the-table Bolton five up, a finger injury forced Crudgie to play up-front alongside Tommy Tynan, Gordon Nisbet taking the 'keeper's jersey for the final two goals.

  10. Can anyone explain why Sunderland werent given more of the bottom tier. I get there needs to be a bit of a no man's land between home and away, but that was huge, hence Sunderland fans in home end. Doenst make sense especially when you see other grounds where away fans can almost touch hands eg WBA, Huddersfield, Stoke. It feels like we've chucked about £50k away there.

  11. That's not what I meant. We've been told the three-year plan is fully funded, but I was referring to what would happen after that initial period. Will there be a commitment to continue funding the club after that? I suspect the answer is yes, but I would be interested to know.

  17. The football yesterday was a pleasure to watch. If we can can play like that every week I won't have any complaints. I agree with comments about us needing to make a couple of substitutions and us winning if Wright played ninety minutes. But that might ultimately be our problem. For reasons outside of our control, we have a good first eleven and not very much else. If we can keep all our players fit for long enough though, we should be capable of putting a nice little run of results together.

  18. I think Portsmouth fans will treat this as a big love-in pre game as they've been where we are. After the game may be a different matter once we've stuffed them.

  24. I like the man, I like his coaching team now, I liked the team he had at Rochdale when him and Flitcroft divorced. I hope they are the most successful management and coaching team we have ever had. I don't think they are a golden ticket though because of how things ran at Rochdale, and that's from knowing people who played there and from seeing them as a neutral. Don't want to be being negative or appeat to be being so because what is happening is so hyper but can only give my opinion, that's what a forum is.

  28. Moving on from what and to where? What exactly is your problem with us? I'm sure Custard is as delighted as I am that the club has survived, we've probably got well over one hundred years of supporting it between the two of us (can you get anywhere near that - thought not...) and want like everyone else does, the best for our future. Maybe your issue is that we both prefer to stick to the detail rather than follow the lynch mob hysteria stoked by the likes of the ST (who did eventually retweet the clubs tribute to Eddie yesterday) and Iles who didn't (and hasn't done so since either). As an aside did anybody else note that Radio Manchester was clearly present at Sharon's presentation yet Iles seems to have not been and further more he's since retweeted Radio Manchester soundbite from the presentation yet nothing from the clubs full video of it? (I also note he's not even bothered with producing an article from his bizarrely timed twitter attack on Eddie yesterday, being the first anniversary of his death. If his tweet wasn't to gain comments for an article then for what other reason would he have done so? - I'll leave you to answer that yourselves). Do you think his previous disparaging tweets against FV's ability to complete the take over and his call for them to stand aside and let others complete instead might have gone unnoticed by the new club owners? What a wonderful achievement by him to build such a quick rapport with them - albeit an extremely negative one apparently! Custard and I look forward to the new regime and welcome Sharon's stated intent to invest her wealth into the club. We both wish for better times for all both on and off the pitch - and I'm sure it will be too - but we also will continue to follow the clubs financial progress in the accounts in order to sort the wheat out from the chaff. That's just what we do. We find it much preferable and certainly vastly more accurate than following the haters on Twitter and Facebook. How in us continuing doing that is some sort of a problem to you?

  29. I take a dim view of fans who get upset by a player cupping their ears. FFS. Fans sit there screaming abuse at a player for weeks on end. He scores and cups his ears at the fans. What sort of snowflakes can't just accept that the player is probably a bit frustrated and letting off steam?
