It'll just be SJM and Zico rocking up at schools, community groups having a laugh with the kids and visiting sick kiddies in Bolton royal.
He's perfect for that role.
It seems fairly reasonable to try a different approach. We cannot keep trying the same method and not getting the players through.
The foundations are being put into place but there is s long way to go yet. We need better results quickly.
Oh for a Greaves, Sam or Bruce to lead us out of the wilderness.
Herein lies the problem with academies, they produce pass and move players. Looks great against other academy sides where it's just a contest of who can pass and move the best. Doesn't translate into "mens" football, where physical players are going to smash into you. Fuck all to do with Parkinson, absolutely fuck all.
The Q&A on the academy changes all makes a lot of sense and Tobias seems to have a level head. Not dressing it up as all brilliant but a trade off between having the option for players to play U23s and get more experience and also the need to be getting people first team experience quicker. I like that. Its a call that's been made. Hope it pays off.
I'm very unconvinced by McGinlay in a paid ambassador role though - these things to me just seem completely pointless ....
Cementing a relationship with the University's sports courses - why? What is the aim? And why is John McGinlay - hardly a sports science expert - the person to do this? Bring former players "home" - sounds like nonsense to me. This sounds like bunging him a few quid to stop him talking nonsense on the radio and being a nuisance. Not convinced at all. If there is a real role here I imagine there are millions better qualified....
Nothing at all. I just know he is not very good at his highly paid job. Convince me otherwise. Just supporting FV. Doing what should have been done years ago.
