From what I can see, and I know fuck all about dealing with pandemics, the only mistake the govt. have made is the lack of decent PPE. Beyond that, they are dealing with a nightmare. Its like saying having HIV isn't what kills you - it probably isn't its the fact over time your body loses immunity so eventually you die from an innocuous infection in many cases. But if you hadn't contracted HIV you wouldn't have died. Most people who die from Covid-19 will be as a result of organ failure. Or secondary infection. But that doesn't mean they'd have pegged it anyway that day, week or month. Many will die who otherwise would have lived for years, or decades.
