  1. I know it’s a bit rough round where I live but the local Tesco sells Fathers Day cards in packs of five

  2. I agree completely about how it should be pitched and priced, in some ways I think that was the original plan. Whilst the Reebok was being built and the club's cashflow was, well just about the same as it always is, we toured the site and they sold the LOV as for the fans. My parents paid up front I think for 10 years membership and they enjoyed their time there and made some great friends. Then when the ten years were coming to an end and during the premiership heyday, the club decided they wanted something like 3 grand for the next years membership... My dad doesn't have a good opinion of this decision and given they couldn't make full use of it anyway due to work issues and Dad was getting narked by non Bolton corporate fans increasingly being placed in there and then cheering the opposition, they passed on it and went back to regular seats and did without the lounge, quiz etc. Some of their friends still hung on in there but they said it got increasingly corporate and had lost some of the atmosphere it once had. Recently Dad has been talking about it again so I thought I'd explore what it's like now and if it would be worth them upgrading. As they're getting on, it's nice for them to get that lift entrance and an easy walk to their seats etc. Though I wouldn't be surprised if one of the lounges is closed in league 2.

  3. If the overall infected number is low, as it is in Germany at the moment, big leaps in R rate are going to temporarily happen every time there's a local outbreak. So, as long as they are confined localy, and they don't continue over several days, it's much less concerning than if the R rate goes up when there is a higher and more geograhic spread of the overall infected number. For example, if there was an outbreak that caused the number of daily infected to go up from 1,000 to 2,000, that's an increase of 1,000, an R rate of 2 - and there's 2,000 infected in total. However, If the same outbreak caused the number of infected to go up from 10,000 to 11,000, this time the R rate is only 1.1, and the overall total is 11,000, much worse than 2,000. Even with the local outbreaks, Germany are still recording 4 times less new infections per day than we are (per population), so in summary, it's too early to say how serious the increase in Germany is yet. if you want a better explanation it's here https://plus.maths.org/content/epidemic-growth-rate and the rates, including growth rates are here https://www.gov.uk/guidance/the-r-number-in-the-uk

  4. Shouldn't that be reason enough? I wear a mask and given it's not medical grade that's my primary reason for doing so. If I have picked it up and am asymptomatic it's going to drastically reduce my chances of passing it on. So first reason is a courtesy to the other people in the room. A secondary reason is I think it provides some limited protection as long as you're careful with it. Don't mess with it, don't be touching it, take if off carefully, sanitise hands and then wash it and dry it for several days. I've read a lot of the papers on this subject and the initial scepticism in the West is being replaced by more and more scientists advocating their use for this virus: https://www.pnas.org/content/early/2020/06/10/2009637117 https://www.forbes.com/sites/alicegwalton/2020/06/13/face-masks-may-be-the-key-determinant-of-the-covid-19-curve-study-suggests/#4a8cc0026497 Apologies for the walls of quotes, but with respect I think your advisor is behind the curve on this. It's a bit like vaccinations. If everyone does it the evidence is increasingly strong that we'd be getting through this much quicker. As soon as people start to go their own way, the effectiveness of the measure drops. We really need to get to the point where we see others wearing masks as taking steps to keep us safe and vice versa.

  6. This is exactly my position as well. If we’re going with a DOF then I can only see a young up & coming Head Coach being appointed, such as Evatt or Lowe and I think Evatt edges it for the excellent job he’s done at Barrow and the article I’ve read sound like he’s an intelligent & progressive Coach.

  13. The club has got its corporate pricing and its away fan rules wrong for a long time When KA took over he inherited a corporate pricing structure that had some flexibility - a fair few people had individual agreements that went back a number of years that included tickets for a particular lounge and "free " advertising boards etc and the girls who ran the Corporate had a degree of discretion -and not everyone was paying the same price Overnight he got rid of that and charged everyone the same price whether they were buying a single ticket for the first time or had had multiple memberships of a particular lounge for 10 years + That decision did a lot of damage and cost a lot of goodwill and custom Its made even worse when you find your usual table of 6 or 8 , usually made up of just Wanderers fans ,but because its Leeds or Wolves at home , has become a table of 12 and you have half a dozen pissed up visiting fans who have hijacked your table. Good way to alienate your own supporters but reality is they squeezed every last person they could in there on some days and it ruined the day for the Wanderers fans in those lounges I would move the LOV until demand justifies its reopening in the east stand and offer similar - agree with food suggestions and pricing on this thread - in one or more of the smaller West Stand Lounges - there is plenty of seating available - and it is surely cheaper to run in one area of the stadium in the short term

  14. Hi very rarely post on here but a friend of mine who plays non league knows a few lads who played under Campbell at Macclesfield. Apparently when the captain suggested the system wasn't working during a losing streak he was brought in front of the squad by Sol and asked how many England caps he had, the players were then told if they question him again they could "f*ck off" and would be out of the team. Obviously this is third hand information but it seems to line up with rumours about his ego. Hill used these sort of humiliation tactics last season and seeing how that ended, it definitely feels like he would be the wrong man for the job.

  15. That makes sense, if you are increasing from a smaller base then numbers can hopefully be manageable.

  17. Yeah I've had a season ticket in lov for the last few seasons. Numbers are definitely down this season. Probably about 100 or so, less on night matches. The tables aren't set up past the half way for most games. It's fairly informal, not a corporate atmosphere at all, imagine you'd get that in some of the dearer suites. It's going to be interesting how they handle 5 different corporate lounges for league 2. Ill keep banging the drum until it happens but LOV should be pie and peas for 600 quid a season. Offer something half way between corporate and East lower social club.

  18. You want the radical left “eradicated” (your exact wording), but not the radical right? You see them as non-influential so just keep them at arms length? I’d like to see them both eradicated. And you mentioned Trump. Despite everything, you still think he’s right. Man.

  20. Nearly bankrupted them, on c£10k a week and is owed a hell of a lot by Macc. Not sure how they agreed to pay him that much, when they get such small gates. done terrible at southend and he brought Andy Cole in on the coaching side (so god knows what the 2 of them were on) so it’s a no from me

  23. It's all about opinions Rudy but if you are showing support for a group that is shouting for statues to come down due to their connections with slavery way back when then you can't turn a blind eye to present day slavery because you want to play in a World Cup without being a hypocrite imo..

  25. My ex gets £700 a month (and I don’t admit to the full time I have them so she can get more), so she’d better not be complaining. Had a fab day, Mark Lanagan’s book, pub, football with the kids, lovely weather, eggs Benedict and Chinese for ‘tea’ Edit - I’ve also not dropped it during furlough, even though we are now doing 50/50 childcare, because I maybe a tit at times, but I’m not a wanker.
