  1. I got made redundant at 51 after getting a job that saved me after being made redundant at 48 Different times currently, obviously, and I took a 12 month hit on having no job, but I genuinely took the “fuck you, I’ve got years of experience and a younger, cheaper option won’t give you that” attitude. Took a while, a salary drop, and a less than ideal job but was stepping stone back to my current job which has got me back to where I want to be Best advice I got was that it’s easier to get a new job while you already have one so don’t be too proud to go for jobs that are way from ideal but get you back in employment. May sound a bit glib but not meant to be Hope he gets summat. Best of luck to him

  2. This government that is now giving people who can afford to eat in restaurants £10 off their meals is the same government that had to be dragged kicking and screaming into making sure poor children could eat over the summer holidays.

  4. He was a fucking disgrace at Wycombe. A team full of inexperienced lads throwing themselves about and he was just ambling around. I so wanted it to work for him at ours, but he can fuck right off.

  10. 😀 Very far from bored or short of work, was just replying to a message on a discussion forum! There will be many like myself who would like nothing more than to return to the office as soon as possible, giant arse shaped crater in my couch now. The hot desking and communal office environment we spent so much time and effort in creating might be a thing of the past already, though.

  17. One is 50% off if you can afford it to kick start the economy. The other is potentially giving free reign for 'some' to expect the government to feed their kids all year round. Fwiw... I'm all for both schemes. Think the school dinners needs to be as temporary as half price nandos though.

  23. Masks are mandatory in all shops in Scotland from this Friday. Colds and normal Flu will be on the rise from September. Masks should reduce transmission of those too. Plenty folk will be isolating with colds, thinking they may have covid. As Kent said, there might not be a substantial 2nd wave, but if there is, Autumn is a likely time for it to come back, more time indoors, less ventilation, less sun, schools all back, colder temps, everything viruses like. Masks definitely reduce the distance and the amount of viral particles you expell into the air, when you breathe, cough sneeze etc. Already proven. It's why surgeons have been wearing them for years. Theres evidence to show that masks also reduce the amount of viral particles you breath in, if you haven't got it. Theres evidence to show that the lower the dose of a virus you get (the less particles you breathe in) the higher the chance that you have none or mild symptoms. If you get a low dose, it gives your immune system more time to produce antibodies. If you get enough antibodies produced in time, the infection has a higher chance of being killed off in your nose/ throat, before it gets to the lungs. If you get a really low dose, the viral particles may not even make it into a cell, your snot, nose hairs and saliva can prevent infection. Lots of benefits. Lots of folk didn't like it when they passed the law about wearing seat belts. I can remeber my dad saying "what happens if you crash into a lake, you might drown because of the seatbelt" he used to pretend to wear his seat belt, pull it over his body and sit on the buckle...until he had a bump. Hes worn it ever since, not crashed into a lake yet!

  24. It’s what I call “standard”. I’m 6 foot and 14 stone and anything large fits perfectly. They tend to do baggy rather than tight. If in doubt go one size larger. I did on a couple of the wicking first layer shirts. At the end of the day mountain biking gear isn’t about a close fit. If it looks too big it doesn’t look bad, if it looks too tight you look like an arse I’m after a new pair of Supertankers shorts . 149 NZD. Bit pricey at today’s exchange rate but I’ve had the current pair over 17 years and the zips have just bust on the pockets and the foam lining has just started to peel away and that’s after many years serious mountain biking. I’ll happily pay for my next pair as they’ll see me to the grave.

  25. But all you are saying is that ‘old’ owners passed ownership to ‘new’ owners. Who were basically the ‘old’ owners. So the only discussion is which owners are at fault. The ‘club’ really is the owners you can not say the two are separate. EFL are useless they approve anyone Wigan are not unique, if this was allowed it opens a window for everyone to do the same. Wigan’s best chance is for other clubs to go the same way.
