I know I’m starting to sound like a broken record but my god this isn’t that complicated. If everyone carries on piling into the pub and cuddling up to everyone they see then people are going to die. Might be 100. Might be 1000. Might be 10000. Might be 100000. But people will die. Just stay home for bit and stop moaning.6 likes

Possibly the biggest mistake this goverment has made is putting to much trust into the general public from the start.2 likes

Checks out. One of the biggest chancers in our history. Ten years with us as a key component of the darkest days imaginable, yet lauded as a hero. Bet he barely gave us a season's worth of decent performances in all that time. The absolute state of him.2 likes

Reducing the amount of contacts everyone has with everyone else will make the spread slower than it would be without. Before all this I would normally; Take 2 neighbours kids to school 5 days a week Take 1 neighbour to bwfc training 3 days a week Stand next to a group of football dads for 6 hrs a week Watch BWFC twice a month Visit 8 customer's offices a week Meet my business partner in Tickled Trout lounge for a weekly meeting Go and see either my dad/brothers/sister twice a week for a brew Take the family out to the pub or out for tea once or twice a week Travel down on the train and stay in London for 4 days a month - tube every day Expos once every few months (thousands of folk) Go swimming once a week Gym twice a week Cinema once a month Be in multiple shops every week. Dentist/doctors/physio a few times a year None of this is happening at the moment, so the amount of folk I'm coming into contact with has massivley reduced, and so my chances of bumping into an infected person will be much lower than it would be if I still did all the stuff above. Doesn't mean I'm not going to ultimatley catch it, just that the timescale of me doing so is greatly extended. Multiply this over large portions of the poulation and it has a massive effect.2 likes

I didn’t think they could have been any clearer yesterday. If cases continue to double every week (as they have been) then this is what would happen. I’m not sure how anyone can argue with that.2 likes

Stop worrying about people laughing at us. Even if they are, so what ? Once we get on a roll it will be fun again being a wanderer.2 likes

That’s the key here. The government are basically listening to Whitty et al and I’m happy to go along with it as I believe in these guys. Yes there’s alternative views but you’ve got to pin your flag to someone’s mast so to speak and they will do for me1 like

Nothing is perfect. Refining anything to get more accurate results is welcome. The govmt isn't using just Pillar 2 tests to determine lockdown protocol. Theyre using ONS survey data, seropositive test data, ZOE symptom tracker, Icnarc reports, hospitalisation numbers, triage numbers, data from Europe, death numbers, and no doubt stuff we don't know about to get an idea of an accurate forecast. If the rise in hospitalisations and deaths drop again, they'll relax restrictions again. There's all sorts of dicks, on both sides of the argument that bring their political axes to grind. Fuck off, I say to them.1 like

I went out twice a week during help out to eat out. Never caught it. Been to the pub several times and wear a mask when I move about or go to loo etc. sanitize constantly. haven’t caught it. Followed the rules to the letter. If everyone followed the rules this virus would be a much smaller issue now than it is. it’s really that simple. But folk can blame anyone but themselves.1 like

Sorry, not your claim but you have posted as though it is fact. You got a link to the info by any chance?1 like

"What's the verdict, Doc?" "Your appendix has burst, and we need to perform surgery immediately or there's a good chance you'll contract sepsis, which can be fatal" "Bollocks. My mate down the pub reckons it's indigestion. You're obviously scare mongering, so I'm off home to watch 9/11 conspiracy videos on youtube."1 like

Quite And a great number of mathematicians and virologists wrote to the govt in the past day to explain the flaws in their presented data and to say that community P2 testing is wrong at least 9/10 times. 90% most of those who’ve tested positive are almost certain to be negative. They are introducing these measures on such baseless data. And the outcome is that lives and livelihoods will be lost as a result In my opinion (and that’s all it is) this is unacceptable. It’s not cos I want a beer at 10:05pm, it’s because I think it kills more people in the long run.1 like

It'll happen again with this. If we go over 50k, they'll be accused of underestimating, not doing enough. If we go under, or only at 50k for a few weeks, folk will say there was no need for restrictions, we over reacted. Cant win1 like

If Patrick Vallance did footie stats; Bolton, played 2, lost 2. Going down having lost all 46.1 like

The graph illustrated what is happening now, and why it needs to be addressed with new measures. Without them, their reasoning makes perfect sense. A very similar analogy exists at the Wanderers. If we continue as we are, we will get relegated. Therefore its incumbent upon the manager, and players to improve the situation by introducing more points into the system. What we don’t need is a graph to show us what will happen if the points don't materialise.1 like

Spoke to my oldham athletic supporting traffic warden pretend fwend today. Said Wheater has behaved like an utter cock and billy big bollocks. Refused to accept furlough and wanted full pay. Sounds familiar. Ok for our lot though because he got pissed in fannys.1 like

Cottage in Lake District, it's usually dead. Walking in the snow, no decorating, no visiting families, no driving, pissed up in a pub drinking ale by a coal fire.1 like

I can't see them changing this now until after christmas. Simply because they don't trust the public to behave and quite honestly they're probably right. Non-mask wearers (expemptions notwithstanding) should now be barred from shops full stop.1 like

Everything Chris Whitty says is being peer reviewed by our most eminent medical people, the very people we're led to believe will be producing this vaccine even. Yet bloke on the internet without a GCSE in Biology knows better. Hilarious. He may be wrong, they might all be wrong, but fuck me, Denise Welch in the house.1 like

Not allowing for the lag and using 15 day old data - so bascially a month out of date, whilst arguing that we need to provide data that shows a proper context - very very misleading. You've got Whitty and Valance doing their best to look at current trends in the UK, comparing that to trends in France and Spain to try and work out what's going to happen here, with some people saying that they're scare mongering, (they said 50k is not a prediction of what will happen - they said if numbers double week on week, as they may do without further restrictions, we could be there in mid October), and other folk saying we need to lock down more. They can't win.1 like

Alternatively, it may have worked very well. What would the place looked like had we done little? No one really knows, but we could all hazard a guess. I noted a South African policy early doors in all this: a ban of alcohol sales- how about that over here! A nuclear option1 like

I’ve said previously that the pubs I went in handled it well. The restaurants also. Many didn’t and that is the problem. Heard a pub owner on the radio this morning saying that the 10pm curfew would ruin his business because that’s his busiest time. That’s the whole point though, busy pubs mean more chance of spreading the virus. The late curfew is common across Europe. If it works then it’s surely better than closing completely.1 like

God today has wound me up something special. I’d have sympathy for people who are worried that a second lockdown would affect medical treatment, their ability to earn a living and put food on the table or to be able to look after their elderly parents. In reality, most people I hear moaning are worried they might not be able to celebrate Cheryl’s 37th birthday. Or might not be able to go to Pollensa at half term. Or simply won’t be able to go out on the piss every Friday like normal. The selfishness people are displaying leaves me completely empty1 like

So for anyone that doesn’t know, on Wednesday I volunteered for the British vaccine trials for Covid-19, held at Salford Royal. The vaccine is one that was created in Russia. Fair enough. Even though we're in the lowest League position in our history, any rational Wanderer would rather be where we are now than where we were 12 months ago, getting pumped by 5 or 6 every game and not fulfilling fixtures. All about perspective.1 like
