  2. Only got told an old workmate was suffering deep depression on FB last night, i lost his number when my last phone went AWOL, anyway i managed to contact him with the poor lad living in S Wales. He sounded a bit down but soon had him a bit upbeat and thanking me for giving him a call.

  3. They are easy, negative observations that anyone with an ounce of football knowledge would struggle to disagree with. And of course you have the higher ground as you’ve got a whole host of poor results to back you up. Trying to be positive (realistic) is difficult and without any (few) results to back it up leaves you with the danger of sounding deluded - I’ll try not to. 1/ This needs time - more half of us were giving him till at least the end of October, some more. 2/ With the above comes a whole host of complexity about getting all those negatives you highlight sorted; individuals, formations, tactics, combinations. 3/ Shoots of positivity? Difficult... but here goes... Santos improving, Delaney looking good, Brockbanks delivery impressive, signs of the defensive unit playing well together, occasional WB play which looks promising, when chances are created the front 2 look good, despite the midfield looking disjointed, the players look comfortable on the ball. 4/ IE is being honest, he’s not talking bull shit, he’s identified the same problems we are seeing. He’s not deluded, he’s not talking in riddles, he’s not afraid to change the formation, he’s gone through a top to bottom recruitment process and has given bwfc a squad with players for every position, he’s not made any excuses. He’s talked about results mattering and is willing to substitute style for substance if need be (Harrogate) He is seeing these players everyday and working tirelessly to address this. 5/ So if point 4 has its merits, then you can see why @jules_darby, @Casino and myself see why there may be potential and given time he could turn this around and be a good un 6/Accepting that the coaches know more than you and for all those issues you raise, they are the ones to see the problems and sort them out 7/ Have some faith

  13. Aye my mate rang me as I was going in to college back in 2001. Didnt answer. He was cut up about splitting up with his mrs and finding out she was pregnant. He spent the day on a binge of drink and drugs, got that smashed he choked on his own sick after passing out and died. Moral of the story. If your mate needs a chat, have a chat. You never know whats round the corner.

  14. Mind boggling really , he was and is Wanderers through and through . Just looking at his stats he reached double figures plus in 4 consecutive seasons ( including the maligned 91/92 season ) . The Match in question he was playing for Coventry and scored 2 goals against Blackburn to finally end their challenge that season. I personally class him in the Bolton legend bracket ( Regarding the lower division seasons ) .

  22. I agree, it's nuts that us, the porridge-wogs and the Welshists are all doing different things at different times - if there was ever a time to be a "united Kingdom" this would be it, it seems that it's actually going the other way

  25. Does it need implicitly stating that beheading people is barbaric? I'm happy to state it categorically, if not. In the same way, fucking kids is wrong, and doesn't need stating. You don't need to post pictures of that either. Most normal folk have no inclination to do any of these things; if you do, as I said, you need to take a deep fucking look at yourself.

  28. Darby was a great player for us, up until the Tranmere play off loss. Some of the goals he scored for us were Scholes'esque. As the teams form suffered the following season, so did his and he was singled out for stick by the fanzine at the time (Here we go again?) which eventually worked its way onto the terraces. Unbelievable to think he was getting booed by some when his name was read out. His style of play wasnt suited to the Rioch era and it was the right time to move on but his name deserves to be up there with the best of our lower division players. At his lowest ebb he scored a goal that still gives me goosebumps today. Southampton away in the FA cup.

  29. Saw this on Twitter earlier. In the Premier League there has been 171 goals scored already at an average of 3.72 goals a match. Over a season the highest average was 2.82 goals for a total of 1072 in 2018/19. So if it carries on at the current rate there would be over 1400 goals.

  31. Pfizer are taking a gamble and they aren’t stupid. They’ve produced some of the biggest selling drugs in the world. They’ll have access to the early data. Confident and they’ll push the button. Which they have done. They may go for orphan drug status which means that the data they have suggests that everything is OK and that they don’t need to do more trials. Also means they can’t sell at the usual profit as it’s pushed through for “humanitarian” reasons. On the other hand they may have later data which is more robust which means that they can sell for a higher price IMO they won’t try to profiteer on this but don’t think for one second that this will be cheap. This will have cost them millions and millions just to get to this stage. And there’s still no guarantee that their gamble of starting production will pay off with a licence for use If I was a gambling man, however, I would say that this is a good bet. You don’t wheel out videos and senior execs on summat like this thinking that you might end up with egg on your face Edit: Boss Hog sums it up quite nicely here. I still reckon that they are very confident of passing each hurdle https://www.pfizer.com/news/hot-topics/an_open_letter_from_pfizer_chairman_and_ceo_albert_bourla

  35. Definitely got the running bug. 17 miles around Kinder, Mam Tor, Losehill and Edale. An 18 miler locally around Carrington, Warburton, etc. 10 miler around Flixton/Stretford. And then a 9.5 mile run up & down Snowdon yesterday. Interspersed with a number of 5 milers. Feeling pretty chuffed. And then see a mate has ran a 30 miler through the night in the lakes with ascents the equivalent of 4 Snowdon’s. Deflated!!!

  36. There is a reason Carlo is one of the most decorated managers of all time, because he’s absolutely brilliant. Forget money and claw players at his disposal. Watch how his previous teams set up, hard to beat, fast , spread the ball well, take their chances. Look at DCL goals this season, one touch and it’s in the net. That’s what Everton for years have been missing. Ancelotti isn’t some flash in the pan manager, he’s elite, In the same bracket as Jose, Pep, Klopp and fergie, he’s just a winner. Write Everton off at your peril this season.

  37. Why would you assume i’ve not seen him? I saw him when he was at his finest - fronting The Jam at King Georges Hall Blackburn in June 1980 when the band were at their peak. Without doubt a brilliant live band & Weller wrote most of The Jams best songs - he was/is a great artist. Still a bit of a bell though.
