As a football fan I feel overwhelmed with all the tributes I have to endure, one minute, two minutes, clapping at a set minute and so on. Its an effin' footy game at the end of the day not an international summit. However, BLM has made me think about discrimination, I am an older man who still believes he has something to offer but late in life, I now experience age-discrimination which winds me up big time. As a result I now realise some people have had to endure some form of discrimination from day zero and I now look at myself and how I conduct my affairs and I call out any discrimination no matter how minor, I really cannot accept the statement "I'm not a racist because..." It is all about how you conduct yourself as a human being. Initially this doesn't make me the most popular guy on the building site but when I explain how I have made this decision it leads to some very good interactions and ultimately we all understand each other more than prior. So maybe this is what taking a knee can achieve.3 likes

You could say Im a little more informed than you are on this partucular matter. Thats regarding the millwall fans in particular. Birch is definitely more informed than you are on the wider issues regarding race. For once, could you not listen and take on board what someone is actually saying to you? Can you not listen, take note and actually think, hang on a min, he might actually know what hes on about? Maybe I can alter my view a little or at least understand somebody elses? Your as bad as the people you think you hate. Polarised with one view and one way of thinking. Its a really poor way to be. You just end up arguing and coming across as a condescending cock, shutting people down and offering shitty responses for rest of your life. Open your mind. You dont have to be right all the time.2 likes

it’s an opinion, a political one granted but an opinion all the same If you spent less time being shitty with people and more time trying to have some proper dialogue on the issues of systemic racism then you might come across a bit better (you might not be bothered to be fair) You gave me a shitty reply on Sunday night, inviting me to go onto the ONS to look at the data for myself. I did and shared the data that shows White people underperform vs Chinese and Indian compatriots in nearly all the data. That IMO indicates that the system isn’t racist and cultural differences are the key to economic development (not skin colour) I’ve yet to see anything from you that supports your opinion, would appreciate if you did share, ideally ONS data as you requested from me2 likes

First sentence absolutely nails my view point, the rest of the comments were also absolutely spot on. Thankfully he says it more eloquently and succinctly than I do. Well done Simon Jordan.2 likes

This isn't about Millwall fans, it's about a wider issue. If you think this is polarised, deary me. Disagreement is fine, as is discourse, if I disagree I will say. Sick.of the over simplification of this position, you're as bad as the people you hate nonsense, my 14 year old has more sophisticated positions than that. Basically, some.people on here are excusing a fucking awful position, jumping through hoops to justify it. I get it, and it does go back to what Kent said, but it doesn't make it right, and doesn't mean it shouldn't be called out for what it is. If that makes me a condescending cock in your eyes, then so be it. Im very happy to wear that badge given your stand on this.particular issue.1 like

One thing's for sure in my mind. One of the most marginalised groups in the UK are white working class men.1 like

It is clear that taking the knee is a purely anti-racism thing. If you think players are doing it to support vandalism and graffiti (or Marxism!), then you are being either purposefully or subconsciously ignorant.1 like

Thing to bear in mind with this is that were giving it primarily to the elderly at the moment. The sad law of averages means that one of them is at some stage - going to die very shortly after having the shot. That will be the time for cool heads. But sadly - that's a conspiracy theorists wet dream.1 like

Millwall fans explained BEFORE last Saturday's game that they would not support their players " taking the knee" because it is a symbol of the BLM, an extremist left wing political group, not because they opposed anti-racism.1 like

It is indirectly racist. I don't believe I have ever been directly racist but I have been guilty of not calling out racism when it crops up I have turned a blind eye saying that they don't really mean it, they are just joshing, its not what they really mean, football banter and so on. Reporting them to who? If I ask them to stop then that is against the group behaviour, I once got a Des MacBain warning letter for getting into an argument with the subsequent fisticufs with a fellow supporter.1 like

Is a daft question this. Both supremely talented, both have an amazing body of work both in the same band and separately. Like any prolific songwriters they had their share of duds. Even Bob The God Dylan has many a turgid album. But like McCartney and Lennon, these often have a gem.of a song that most artists would give their left bollock to write. You can't make The White Album every year.1 like

Equality. It really is quite difficult at times, isn't it? Well, I've said my piece, carry on defending this is all you want and let's see where history lands for us.1 like

A very bizarre November friendly. I was ball boy behind the goal at the away end that season. Came away thinking Gustavo Nery, who played up front and scored four was the next Romario. He was actually a left back. Still, Rogerio Ceni in goal is one of my highlights of players I’ve thrown the ball too. I did give it to Djorkaeff and Okocha on corners every other week mind.1 like

I don't think anyone thinks "all" millwall fans are racist, all that shows is some are not, but that's like any club - decent lads and neanderthals in attendance that kid singing "millwall, fuck em all" picked up "you black cunt" thinking it was ok to say it from somewhere but that doesn't mean all millwall fans are racist either1 like

This is just plain wrong. They've just run through it, and given lots of examples where it was clearly articulated that it was about the withdrawal deal. With the belief that it would pave the way to a trade deal. Get politics live on iplayer if you're not convinced. If folk were numb enough to think differently that's their problem.1 like

You're off your bonce. Truly. Very short memory. Forgotten the stuck parliament that wouldn't vote anything through? Corbyn refusing to go either way, and the remain majority fucking it up. Attempts to get another referendum. That was purely the withdrawal agreement, and trade couldn't start as the eu wouldn't engage. I'd suggest its you that didn't grasp the potential consequences of that parliament's actions. Though in fairness you have previously admitted you dont know much about politics.1 like

The eu would not discuss the trade deal until WA was signed. Fact. the WA was delayed because of screechers and shit politicians. Another fact I suspect you know this really though1 like

To be fair to Khan (not something you see written on here very often ) what is happening up North isn't of any concern to him. He's right in what he's saying. What he's saying can be applied to every town and City currently under Tier 3 restrictions, It's the Government that caring a lot less about us scummy Northeners that is the problem, not Khan.1 like

Lennon had some great solo work as well. All of their solo work is judged on the Beatles work. Imagine having your work judged aside the greatest band of all time. It’s not going to compete because they set the bar that high, but they still made great music.1 like

You're excelling yourself here pal, jesus christ. Imagine the boot on the foot with all that behaviour? Youd be the first to castigate any violence attached to political movements. Only when it suits your agenda eh... You're without a doubt the most blinkered poster on this forum, and that is some achievement.1 like

BLM is an American movement/political/activist organisation. The problems with racism in America are not the same as the U.K. They are not the same as the rest of Europe. They are not the same as the rest of the world. We don’t need to import their problems here or their politics. Our police are not like the US police. Our political system is not like the US system. We are not America. All BLM has done has created division.1 like

This will be my last post in this thread but here’s a story. When I was a kid I played football and I was decent, got a few player of the year trophies, I was fuckin rapid and scored goals for fun. One game a lad called me a fuckin wog, it got to me. I can still picture the lad now. This happened quite a bit, and everytime it got to me, I had managers who did nothing. Growing up when I attended the wanderers matches I loved it, but I witnessed racism that hurt, I got it delivered to myself from home and away fans. That takes serious strength to continue to go to matches. I became a professional football coach and I’ve been on the end of racist abuse as a coach, even by fans of the club I work for. Having a child now who may witness and suffer racist abuse it breaks my heart, I sometimes think you know what I’d die before she got the same treatment as I have done. Seeing any person be hurt or killed because of the colour of their skin, it takes me back to when I was a kid. It hurts. Seeing any player suffer racist abuse, takes me back. Breaks my heart. How in 2020 is this still happening? Then George Floyd is killed, and I just think how is this happening because of his skin colour, I look at my daughter, she’s the most amazing little thing but she’s mixed race and she might suffer abuse. It upset me, it took me back to my racist experiences. Then I see players of all creeds and colours kneeling in front of the worlds audience, saying enough is enough we want equality. It send a sense of pride and emotion through me, I have lived through racism but we now live in a world where I’m less likely to be taken back to that horrible awful place. If you are fed up of players kneeling, imagine how fed up how black people are of not feeling equal. Im out. x1 like
