Basically the Jews say it's their ancient sacred homeland going back 1,000s years, before being expelled, eventually to all points (hence the term diaspora). Over time the Arabs moved in, with various wrangles with Christians in the Holy Land (the Crusades) and others along the way. Things seemed to have settled down until the British Balfour Declaration in 1917 that committed to giving the Jews their national homeland in Palestine. Unfortunately I don't think anyone told the Palestinians. This became a reality in 1945 for perhaps understandable reasons. Ironically Palestine was a British protectorate and not really up for giving it over lockstok and barrel so the Jews fought the British to get their independence. Israel was then formed in 1948 and the rest, as they say, is history!2 likes

That has me reminiscing about match daysas a kid in the early/mid 70s. Getting to the ground early, mooching around the Happy shop. Buying sew on badges for the latest scarf, also buying the tin ones with a players picture on. Woollen scarf round neck, silk ones round wrists, reading the programme whilst waiting for autographs. Would occasionally be stood on the carpark in awe & trepidation as the police marched a big away following to the Lever end, particularly remember Forest in Cloughie 1st year, I think they brought 2 specials. Then there was the atmosphere of a big game at Burnden, so unique I can still feel & smell it, especially a night game, followed by the walk back up Manny Rd to town, sometimes joyous, sometimes sad & often volatile! What I'd give to go back & experience it just one more time 😢2 likes

It’s our Asian brethren. It is allowed to mention that we have a cultural melting pot in our town you know. Its also allowed to mention that they have a different ideological approach to vaccines - not one many of us from different cultures agree with. The telly folk have blamed people returning from India. Since we have a lot of Indians in Bolton - of which we are rightly proud - there is no harm in staying this as a fact. What they should fucking do is get a cunting vaccine. I don’t give a fuck if you worship a white god with a big grey beard, a brown god with a black beard, or passing aliens with massive eyes and anal probes - get a fucking jab so we can go to the bar in the pub.1 like

I know he did. Not sure it was a wind up, but an alternative way of thinking. I don't think it stands up to proper scrutiny though, and the likes of Sikora are potentially a threat to the great work our nurses and doctors have done.1 like

Never had a reason to be bothered by Morecambe, but they are becoming worse than Doncaster for persistent moaning. Such short memories with their player rolling 3 times and their players surrounding the ref in the home game when Maddison was sent off. The red was rescinded, their’s wasn’t, that’s all they need to know. Hoping the get battered in the play off final. They can still beat Tranmere though.1 like

I’ve been told it was a one-to-one coaching session for extra practice. Hope there’s no blame tried to be thrown anywhere, couldn’t be a more freak occurrence. My kids had been on a playing field a couple of miles away playing footy on a dog walk with our peg at exactly the same time and bailed when the rain came. Nobody could foresee something like that I’ve not seen lightening like that here for ages, zig zags across the sky and could see it in the distance touching ground. Mad to think of those killed the poor boy. My lads team are sorting a tribute/donation for him as all other kids teams. Lad played for Spirit of youth at under 10’s. Same league as my lad. Gave my boys an extra hug or two last night and this morning.1 like

Tranmere are only relevant when we are shit. They are becoming less relevant to me again (good news) Allardyce would only do Salford for a DOF role and loads of wedge. It would be a sad ending to his career. Can’t see it1 like

Some will have died, some won't want the financial commitment. To not lose any clients over the year would be a good start, so for me 8,500 would be good. 10,000 would be great, but the question said "good" 😉1 like

iirc the projected plan was to build the Normid right along the embankment. Reducing its depth right along, build a roof off it & we'd still look like a football ground. I was still playing & lived in Chester so wasn't up to date. I walked in for a very early season league cup match (Wigan or Bury I think) and saw a fckg brick wall consuming 40% of the embankment coming up to 6ft of the cinder track. I don't recall the game. Just my confusion. How the fckg Hell could anyone have accepted that plan ? Surely it was anninterim 'solution' ? Meeting this idiot, a Scot if I recall, who apparently didn't understand the fuss & the hostility and had been very vocal about "people will get used to it" was an opportunity I wasn't going to let go. I didn't.1 like
