Its been mentioned elsewhere but lets try and keep all this respectable. A nice mention before the game and a clap on either the minute the game got stopped or the poor fellas age. Right - I've got a bit of good news here. And maybe something to read if you're down or struggling. I've not mentioned it on here previously, but I've been off work since just before Christmas with mental health problems. Quick synopsis - break of of relationship, dead dad, stressful job and trying to complete a masters got well on top of me and I completely broke down. I couldn't eat, sleep or get out of bed. I thought about suicide every day and couldn't get the thought from popping into my brain and ruminating on it. Even if I knew in my heart of hearts I'd never follow through with it. I genuinely didn't think I would ever be able to recover from this episode and that my life was over. Fast forward a couple of months and I'm ready to return to work. In fact I'm really looking forward to it. I'm exercising again - going out and enjoying life and am optimistic about the future. If you're going through a shit time (and all of us do at times) then just know that it DOESN'T last forever (even if it feels that way right now)..... If anyone's struggling and needs a chat - you can always DM me. Always! 💪👍

Thanks for all the well wishes folks, my old man read every single one. Hes still a bit in shock with it all, worried he could've done more etc which is natural I suppose. Hes going to sort something on the remembrance group later and Ill email the club. Roy actually played for Bolton in the 60s as he liked to tell my kids every week He was an entertainer by trade, comedian and organ player. Played The Stanley Arms in Blackpool which was the start of the Ma Kellys empire. Regularly played at BWSC events when we had meetings over this way. Just catching up with news on here, been a shit week, brother-in-law (Bolton fan, season ticket holder) passed away last weekend. Pissed up tonight and a bit emotional. 3 points tomorrow for him will do nicely. Don't want to be dealing with any more negative shit, so I'll not be on here if we lose. It's going to be very tough tomorrow without some key players, hope this is taken into account before folk start piling in with doom and gloom and criticism. BWFC should be our happy place to go to when times are shit. And if it doesn't go our way it's not the end of the world, just remember that before you start on Evatt, Vic, Maghoma, Taylor, Coleman or whichever player takes your fancy, all of them will be going out there to do the best for the club we love. Been a wanderers fan all my life, born into it with a family full of Bolton fans and have kept a keen eye on wanderers ways for years however never posted. This deserves my first posting. Grew up with Adam during school days amd I am very close friends with his Brother. Gutted is an understatement to what has happened. My heart goes out to his family and all that knew him. It’s amazing how quickly folk forget how much hard work has been put in by Evatt and his team since he came here and how far the team and squad has come, replace him and get the wrong manager and back room team in its amazing how quickly things can unravel and implode. It would be utter madness to get rid of Evatt.

I did, and it was. I’m not going into it all again - Eddie was a saint, some will choose to believe some conspiracy theory about tax losses etc. but the short version is, we lost a hell of lot of money, mainly post Allardyce, there was no other avenue that money came in to cover those losses (bank loans etc.) and seeing as we didn’t go bump, cash was coming in to cover it. Eddie was the source of the cash, loaning it from his other companies, yes there was interest charged on some of the early loans (probably in the hope that he’d one day get it back when some rich Arab bought us) but it only accounted for about £35m of the overall £175m of loans. It ended badly because he had to turn the tap off at some point, he gave Freedman 2 years to get us up, otherwise he couldn’t / wouldn’t sustain the £20m a year losses. We didn’t go up and the rest is history - he still managed to add one further heroic deed by writing off his final £5m to get the deal done, days before he died. Unfortunately, because of the way it ended (he was just signing the cheques - it was others that were running us so badly), he will never be fully accepted as the hero that he was. He did more for us than anyone else in my lifetime (I am a relative young’n compared to you lot) than anyone else has.

Is this true? We have c.16k season ticket holders, and an average home attendance of c.19k, from a town of 200k residents, within a borough of 300k. This is in the third tier of English football. Beyond the borough, we have three of biggest clubs in Europe (if not the world) and another two Premier League (for now) clubs, within an hours drive of our stadium. Beyond a very few neighbouring smaller towns, such as Atherton and Leigh, with no league team of their own, their is a multitude of competition for the “floating” fan in north west. Similar sized towns and cities, such as Ipswich, Stoke, Norwich are a monopoly league club in their county and struggle to get better crowds than Bolton, when we’re at the same level. I’d argue that our support is very robust, when measured against (admittedly slightly smaller) local peers, such as Blackburn, Blackpool, Preston and Burnley, and further afield peers such as Charlton and Crystal Palace. Short of the sort of billionaire investment that delivers success and the associated glory hunters, I’d suggest our maximum core support is unlikely to ever get beyond 30k. To have two thirds of that core support buying tickets for every game in third tier football is anything but fickle, in my opinion.

I heard a guy on BoltonFM on the way back too who said we need to start playing with a plan B and mix it up, playing direct to big men upfront. Jesus wept, and he's not the only one. The amount of times I heard groans and moans again from the same folk around me every time we played it back. It's like we control the game, have chances, then concede a, yes, shite goal from nowhere. So then we should just drop all of our tactical prowess and build up and just revert to long direct balls, simply because we are just 1 goal behind? One of the majority components of a possession style of football is to pass it back, recycle and go again when a certain pass isn't on. Especially more important when playing against dangerous counter attacking teams in transition. It was defensive mistakes that cost us the extra 2 points today. Our style is the reason we scored 3 goals, 3rd in the table with 2/3 games in hand, scored the most goals in the EFL in 2023, 3rd most points and most clean sheets. Maybe Evatt might know what he's doing? But no, let's just sack that all off because it's tippy tappy rubbish and we'd be better if our keeper went long every time. Here's an interesting fact, despite the amount of challenges at the minute, red cards, injuries, fixture postponements & congestion, we've lost just 1 in 11, drawing 3, winning 7. Chap was about 2 rows back and four seats to the right of me. Went up to try and help as soon as I knew what was happening - and he was already being given chest compressions by a fan, but no rescue breaths. Shouted that I was a nurse and that I could give mouth to mouth but was pushed back by the stewards in the confusion. Then tried to alert the stewards that they needed to get the defrib because nobody seemed to be getting one at first. Then on the way back stopped to look after a young girl who had collapsed on Ox Hey Lane - and put her in a car to the hospital. What a weird afternoon. 😁 Because the last decade has just simply been fanatstic. This country is a pitiful shape from the foolishness of austerity to Brexit to crashing the economy to having the first PM in history on criminal charges to having one of the highest death rate with covid to public sector strikes to draconian and undeliverable immigration policies to a cost of living crisis to a housing crisis to a renting crisis to public appointees in hock to the government to the shortest serving PM in history to cabinet ministers being ejected from tax issues to bulling to the disasters of Sudan, to divisive culture wars...... we have been lied to, the poorest have borne the brunt of poor policy making and unfunctioning govermental departments, we've been at the mercy of a party trying to solve internal battles, PM's on foolish ideological crusades, PM's on personal power trips... And still (and this really does make my noodle spin) people who live in the places that have been disproportionaly effected by the short-termism of this party are still making excuses for them. If all this had happened under Labour's watch I'd have just been as angry and wanted them out of power as quickly as humanly possible. We are being governed by a party who simply do not care, and we only have ourselves to blame. Its a fucking disgrace what they'd been allowed to get away with over the last 13 years and I hope and pray that the country wakes up and we give them one of the biggest kicking in electoral history. I don't want them to just lose, I want them to be shamed, I want the cold hard pavement to hit them hard of the rump as we throw them out of power. I want each MP who stood in front of the media and lied to us about why they had to make the decisios they did from Austerity to Brexit to be held accountable and sit on those backbenches for a long, long time for making me ashamed of what we have become as a country - meaner of spirit, harder on those in need, more insular, fighting each other over meaningless distractions whilst the goverment stealth tax us to the hilt. No more excuses, no more whataboutry. These fuckers have to go, and go now.

Everyone will have different opinions, personally I felt barely any confidence going into the play offs last season. This year I feel highly confident that we can get the job done. We just played the runaway leaders of the league and battered them all over the pitch. We battered Oxford and Reading recently at home who are both solid. Id fancy us to grind out a draw away and get the job done home in the 2nd leg. The crowds and support has been building over the past few years, however I think recently we've really shown our potential. Unbelievable atmosphere today, I was a bit gutted we didn't win and possibly lost our chance of automatic promotion. But I can't help but just feel immensely proud of how far we've come as a club.

Saturday has sucked any form of positive feeling I have about games like this. We just dont have the minerals. Best footballing team in the league and we will beat enough go have a good go but we just haven't got the ball to turn up in big games when the chips are down. We wont win here and we wont win at Barnsley or Derby either. We cant handle the pressure.

And in their respective positions so is Santos, same with Charles. - I don’t care if you are Moss Bank u11s, BWFC or Real Madrid, if 3 of the best players in the league as keeper, centre back and forward aren’t in your team you are not going to be at your best. - The collective omission, rather than lack of individual talent in the replacements, is very influential. - To not be losing games, still being in touch, still playing positive attacking football and scoring goats are positives to cling onto in this sticky spell. - As key players come back into the fold we are only going to get better. - As for questioning the managers future, well that’s bonkers, hope to God our rivals for promotion and local haters don’t read that. Makes us come across as entitled/unintelligent wankers, who’ve lost touch as to our journey over the last 3/4 years. I can only think those same folk will be clammering for him to go if we were just above relegation in championship claiming he’s taken us as far as we can go - don’t think he’ll ever truly win some folk over. - This is Bolton Wanderers, I know our derby record is poor, but in promotion winning seasons we have a habit of creating those special moments. Don’t rule these out over the last 15 games. - You have to hope and have belief that those moments are a very real possibility, imagine if we win at Blackpool and Wigan? - The whites are going to give us something memorable this season, let’s embrace and enjoy It.

Other fans can sneer as much as they want about West Ham winning a 'Mickey Mouse' trophy but, ultimately, why do we support a football club? We support a club and the dream is to watch them lift silverware. Many of those West Ham fans last night will have never seen their team do it before. That win last night meant more to West Ham fans than any Champions League final win would do to a fan of an 'elite' club. What a lot of so-called football fans don't get is it's not all about playing at the very top. A last minute winner in a League 2 match feels every bit as special as a last minute winner in a Premier League match. If you don't get that then you don't really get football.

hello the fundraiser has now closed thanks to everyone who donated we raised £645 from 49 donations paypal took varying amounts of commision each £5 donation, we got £4.55 each £10 donation, we got £9.41 a £20 was £19.12 someone donated £50, we got £48.25 we've now got the ongoing hosting and licence management sorted, and took control of the domain name, the expense paid out for this were: £180 per year for the hosting, so covered for next 12 months approx £100 ($120) every six months for the licence fee for the forum software, so £200 per year £20 for wanderersways.com domain ownership transfer fee so £300 paid out in total which leaves £351.20 in the pot (including the £38 that was already in there) the site costs £380 a year to run so this time next year, we'll need to raise about £130 to cover the following 12 months and then £380 a year after that well played everyone

Embarrassed reading some of that. Nothing we don’t already know but some of our fans are really brain dead. Day after my eldest son was born, the match that effectively kept us up, JJ screamer!!! Followed straight after by end of season piss-up/headwetting with the team I played for, was absolutely battered. So much so when I went to collect Mrs & baby from hospital Sunday morning I was that rough the nurse sent me home and wouldn't release them into my care!!! Had to go back at 6pm 😂 That little anecdote doesn't get brought up during arguments much!! He's 21 this April, where the fuck has that time gone!!

First off I'm not here to gloat but I said I'd post one win or lose. What a strange day where you had loads of possession but did little with it. You are loads better than that though and I believe you will go up but I remain optimistic we can make the play offs. Our young lads stepped up big time and in a game of fine margins did things correctly. Thought we may miss Morrison but Watts played well as did young Hughes. Our two young lads in midfield were excellent. It was just one of them days where nowt went right for you but I've no doubt you'll bounce back after today.
