There's a bloke I used to know who was into his Northern Soul, we used to talk all the time about various all nighters we had been to. Him to Northern Soul and me to House and Trance nights. I reckon but for a few decades, we'd have been going on these nights together as it always seems a similar feel. Anyway one time we got onto the subject of drugs, and he told me tgat they used to eat barb butties. Basically barbiturates on a slice of bread to take the taste away. Sounds fucking vile and I've never heard anybody mention it since. Anybody from that era ever consumed such a sandwich?
