  1. That is the craziest analogy I think I have heard on here. As Casino said we got hammered in that game and it was only City's wastefulness and ill luck that stopped it being at least a 4-0. Try again.

It was also back in the good old days when we had the ability to keep clean sheets, which guarantees a minimum of a point every game you know Mr Coyle

  2. The other side of the player right off is the value in the balance sheet as an asset when said player is purchased. This value is then written off over the length of his contract.

Question to ask here is what is that value? Is it what we paid, is it a guess of their market value, is it cost left on their contract for wages and bonus??

Another thing to check is what was the accounting policy prior to the change of depreciating the players value? Did we put a players value on the balance sheet and only write a gain or loss to Profit when the player leaves or did we write off the transfer fee against Profit upon competition of the purchase?

Depending on what we find out, this ?70m hit on player depreciation could be down to placing unrealistic values on them in the first place?

  3. Not only is this a great opportunity to get our first home win on the board but also to make some ground on the teams above and around us:-

    Arsenal v WBA

    Blackburn v Chelsea

    QPR v Man City

    Liverpool v Swansea

Hopefully the teams you'd expect will win the games above and make it a huge weekend for us.

    Plus Wigan play Wolves

  4. It amazes me what people ask on WW.

Typing the same into Google will probably bring up a perfect answer from the Caravan Club in milli-seconds.

But seeing you ask, my answer would be to keep it nice and warm over the cold winter months by burning it. That'll get rid of one menace from the roads next summer!

  5. Looking at this from ED viewpoint, BWFC is one of many companies within his portfolio. If he consolidates all these into one Group Parent company then the ?100M debt at Bolton will be offset against inter company loans in another company.

As long as he's happy with the value if his investment in BWFC that is reflected somewhere in his Group of companies, then it's OK and the Group moves on from year to year.

The issue only crystalizes if ED looks to sell one of his investments, BWFC, and he doesn't realize the value that he has it in his books for.

As the Company that loans BWFC the money that we survive on, is based off-shore in Bermuda, we will never know how ED Group is structured and what value he has on his investment in BWFC

  6. Best bonfire and fireworks in North Bolton and Bury has to be our Greenmount Scout Group one, which is in its 42nd year this Saturday from 6.30pm.

So popular it has become that this year is all ticket! Last chance to purchase is from Greenmount Old School this Friday.

  7. The article leaves the reader to fill in the gaps.

The murky world of agents is an evil of football and no one should be surprised at what goes on.

Let's see if Harrison makes his stories stick. I'm guessing his missed 5pm announcement last Saturday could indicate he's struggling too.

  8. No, I think he's a business man that has & is making a good return on his investment. I just don't believe his investment is 100M

So where has the ?100M come from?

Just interested like, as you seem to be saying that the Auditors have signed off a set of accounts for the last 5 years that don't report the truth??

  9. Basic of ?25K a week JLS

Thought he was worth the same again, so he was allowed to leave at the end of his contract.

He's now begging Championship teams to give him a chance for a fraction of that with appearance and performance top-ups...sounds like the kind of agreement Doncaster are offering!

  10. For some reason Coyle just doesn't fancy Muamba.

I cant think of any other reason why, after featuring in the QPR win and his good performances at Villa and Arsenal in the cup, he's still not regained a place in the Premiership team. I still can't see what Pratley has to offer.

Unless of course, Coyle is one of these managers who blindly picks players he has signed over those he inherited?

  11. If Upson is playing Kevin Davies has to start. Upson is shit scared of Davies and he will bully him.

Spot on tyls, Davies will Love It and he has one or two things to prove having, for the first time in years ( / ever?), not played in a Bolton Premiership match which he had been available for.

If Davies plays against Upson, we might just sneak it 2-1. If Coyle goes with the same as started at Swansea, it's more tears I'm afraid.

By the way, this "it all started with the Semi defeat" I just don't buy. For me the wheels came off before then and is more linked to the Holden injury. We lost 2 out of 3 after the quarter final win at Birmingham with Coyle already starting to scratch his head on how to manage without Holden

  12. It doesn't matter where you go shopping if you don't know what to do with the goods when you get them home!

In one Marc but I'm not sure if that supports Coyle staying or not!

Problem being, if Coyle doesn't know - then who does? As we haven't the funds to back a new manager on his shopping trip even if that's at Poundland again.

  13. The Accounts must be amongst the worst around. ?26M loss in the year on sales of ?68M takes some doing but as has been said, football finances live in a bubble that isn't real business.

Not sure if it's been mentioned but have we finally reached the bottom of Eddie's pockets? Other Loans (which includes monies owed to him) did increase by ?15M in the year but also on the rise again is Bank Loans, up from ?0.8M to ?5.8M.

Anyhow, ?99M of the debt is owed to Eddie, so as long as Eddie stays around then there is nowt to worry about!

  14. Read some of it online, interesting but does sound like drowning man. The stuff on twitter very bitter and twisted sounding,

From what i've heard, that is the case most certainly.

He has plenty on three of the names already mentioned in this thread but if he can make it stick is another issue altogether. For example, how to differentiate between payments that are linked to player transfers and property / land deals.
