  1. Stopped watching it years ago but isn't being gobby the most important pre-requisite? A softly spoken type, say Richard Branson, wouldn't have a hope in hell.
  2. Fun pubs, that's brought back a memory. Not a pub as such but used to be a place, called Scandals I think, opposite the church on Trinity Street, might be an Indian now. Had strippers on and a mate got covered in Johnsons baby powder on a tuesday lads night out while assisting a girl out of a basque. Back to our local in Aggy to try and clean him up before he went home smelling all fresh.

  4. And thereby lies the problem in trying to apply todays morals/ethics/political correctness to things from 20/30/40 years ago. Society has changed but don't vilify someone who was brought up in a different era.
  5. Part of the fat controller's master plan ...attract large numbers of asylum seekers to the town then offer incentives to a global corporation to locate with the promise of a ready made minimum wage workforce ...genius.
  6. I'd expect at least one of their pies thrown in for free.
  7. you are closer to the floor than most people!!
  8. Another bar just opened in H-town ...and another due to open shortly ....just saying.
  9. Anyone know the last day we had without rain at some point ...thinking there was one about 5/6 weeks ago as it's the last time I managed to cut my grass?
  10. Caught a couple of minutes and thought it looked interesting ...will have another look on catchup.
  11. Cauliflower rice ...love cauliflower and cauliflower cheese
  12. Hence the rise in the 'throwaway' society. I've fixed, washers, hoovers, dishwashers and even cars and there's a satisfaction in knowing you're capable of 'fixing' things rather than just saying it's not working, I'll buy a new one. Our dishwasher was 17 years old by the time we changed it and the last repair had been using a plastic binder to fix a leaky seal, same with the washing machine which went through probably 4 sets of brushes around a tenner and 10-15 mins to change, in that time I think the sister in law bought 4 or 5 new washers. When daughter's heater fan went on her A4 so steaming up constantly it took a bit of research and 20 mins to solve at grand cost of £0 and is still working almost 12 months later, Audi wanted £250+ to fix it ...then again she could have bought a new car instead.
  13. Isn't there a £200/month limit on cash withdrawals for the basic and £400/mth for premium. I always use cash in Greece but £200 wouldn't go very far.
  14. .. no wonder we have global warming !! Floods all over Rivi just after 7:00 ... I agree it's not cold.
  15. Nephew joins Team Sky in January from Axeon, currently riding for GB in ToB. Best British Rider for Stages 1,2 & 3 and just pipped on Stage 4 so far, a stage win would top it off. If he doesn't fancy the Adnam's mini casks he's won his dad and I will help him out.
  16. We have some purple flowers that attract loads of bees but they're not out for long, what do I plant to support them for longer next year? Pleased to spot three different types of butterfly whilst doing the garden at weekend.
  17. You've not been hanging round my owd mum have you?! She started exactly the same yesterday but being of advancing years is currently residing in a side room at the NHS's pleasure. The doc that came round this afternoon whilst her grandson was visiting reckoned she had a water infection ...though my lad reckons that's a standard response for any female with an ailment. Our resident medical expert Mrs Dee's been despatched to visiting this evening to do a proper diagnosis. Ps you've not eaten any morrisons boneless chicken thighs recently have you?
  18. Was picking something up from a bloke in Redditch couple of weeks ago and his neighbour rolled up with his 2 week old car on AA transporter. Bloke says what's up and neighbour replies we've been "giraffed" ! Had his window down and food between his legs, giraffe put it's head in to get at food and got stuck by its horns, understandable freaked and ragged the door open with legs flailing all over, cracked windscreen and dents all down side and bonnet. Two of us and the AA guy just couldn't help but laugh !!
  19. I was shit at languages at school so although they were yugoslavian living in france they spoke english, except the cook, as his dad worked for Unesco. Daz - reckon they'd be hanging round her knees now anyway so will keep the memory in the bank 3 weeks in St Maarten wouldn't go amiss though.
  20. We had some decent school trips to Iceland, Russia, States etc but I never got to go on them due to cost. Did 3 weeks in Paris on an exchange. Great fun, bunking off school, riding the metro and coming out of school to be confronted by riot police with a water cannon. Family were Yugoslavian and mother had a habit of walking round in sheer tops with no bra and occasionally naked, opened my eyes as a 14 year old. Never met or spoke to the lad I exchanged with until my mobile rang last year and he'd found my number somewhere on the net. He now lives in the Caribbean so I reckon another exchange is due.
  21. Top Lock's just got a new landlord and had a refurb, think the kitchen re-opens in a couple of weeks.
  22. Started off with Wigan Wheelers after we'd taken him and my son to the velodrome for a taster one sunday morning.
  23. Not seen any of the racing other than incident but on a quick glance tempted to agree. As an aside my 21yr old nephew Chris Lawless won silver in the National Road Championships couple of weeks ago, looking forward to maybe seeing him on the Tour in the future.
