  1. Thought that he was a miles better header of the ball than that lad we got from City Mbete.
  2. Success is finding your own player and selling him for big money like Holding. We don't seem to have produced one of our own even for the sub's bench since Evatt came in.
  3. Which Jan signings were anything like a success? Isn't Johnston Scottish?
  4. Hope Leeds stay up at expense of Everton.
  5. Thought their centre half didn't go for headers the whole game. Just barged our man in the back. So the penalty incident was no different. High balls up the middle were useless because of this. Oh for a decent winger. Lloyd Isgrove? Just think. Some poor buggers have to live in Wycombe.
  6. Expect an aerial assault at Wycombe so I'd play Mbete every time.
  7. Saw Southampton earlier on this season v West Ham. They just didn't have the players. And their fans were semi deluded. So anyone with the chance of a job elsewhere won't go there.
  8. Having played against FC St. Pauli (at Rugby that is), I remember it as a great community club with friendly supporters. Both them and HSV are what the Germans call Sportvereins and play a variety of sports including volleyball, soccer, and rugby union. St. Pauli were very integrated in their local community along the Elbe including the Reeperbahn and the Altona worker suburb (Holsten brewery site/country). I reckon Dapo will have a good time there.
  9. Even if we got in the playoffs, we would be rolled by a physical team.
  10. Agreed, the Tinkerman is a very average manager with a fantastic opinion of himself.
  11. Let's hope that he is a big strong lad. Otherwise we will get roughed up in a few fixtures next season with the present cast.
  12. He got our only goal in the 1-1 at Chelsea in the League cup. Coupled with a fantastic Charlie Wright performance, I remember it well.
  13. Well Holding and Clough raised £5m to keep us in business.
  14. We're hopeless on set pieces at both ends. That's down to coaching. And an experienced keeps organising the defence at our end.
  15. Sunderland have massive delusions of grandeur.
  16. Best Lower Div keeper that I have seen in the last 3 seasons was that Kieran O'Hara. I notice that he is not playing at Burton. Don't know if he is injured or what. A strong lad who is very good off his line.
  17. Didn't look too bad last year here when they walloped us 6-3.
  18. County are an enthusiastic mid-table National League side. Good luck to them. Our team would get rolled most weeks in the Conference. Not physically strong enough and crap in the air at the back.
  19. Seems a very lightweight midfield now. Gillingham are a physically tough bunch. So I am concerned.
  20. Just remember him as the best player of a through ball ever. Made a stack of goals for Franny. Ball between the centre halfs and full backs. Perfect pace on the old muddy pitches. Also terrific for the wingers Doug Holden and Brian Birch. Remember a game at Old Trafford where he totally embarassed Noel Cantwell who was marking Pilky. He was simply the best.
  21. Don't luv me. I'm 6'6'' and 17 stone.
  22. Remember Crawford at Bristol Rovers before he got injured in a no mark game. He was the business. He played the quick coloured lad on the wing in time after time. Not really suited to the Evatt slow build up style. Mind not many are. That's why we don't score many if at all.

    Derby

The EFL only put the boot in on the small fry like Macc Town.
  24. I remember his Grandad Paul Aimsom who was a useful lower divisions goalscorer with Bury and York City among other teams. Paul Aimson's parents ran a corner shop in Macclesfield and Paul sometimes worked behind the counter and you could have a football chat with him Those were the days..
  25. That's right. Let's fill the team with big strong players like Delf. So we hope that we get some one like Arthur in who could play on a muddy pitch at the likes of Mansfield.
