He was tactically brilliant against Barnsley and we were just as poor against Burton Albion - when he didn't feature - as were have been against others recently.

I cannot agree with the Barnsley assesment, he had so much of the ball as we pushed them back but he is ponderous and slow. He did ping a couple of balls to Bradley granted, but nothing more than Morely does every game I've seen him play.

And the Burton game did descend into a turgid match, but the first 15 mins we did ping it about as fast as we have done for ages, and Dapo and Charles should have scored early doors.

I have quoted the stats for MJ, we ship goals when he plays, and we score less.

How does the first 16 games of this season compare to the last 16 of last season?

I can’t be arsed checking it out but I’m sure that somebody else can. Please.

Surely a better comparison would be the last 16 games for last season and the first 16 games to benchmark improvement??

Also MJ will be sorely missed in the next couple of games.

    Will he? Pray tell!!

For me, he has been one of the poorest players in the last month, totally limited, particularly in home games.

Since the Lincoln game, when he has been on the pitch we have conceded 6 and score zero! With him off the pitch we have scored 6 conceded 1, so please someone tell me how he want straight back in the team on Saturday.

If I was Morely, Aimson, John or Sadlier I would defo get the feeling Evatt has his favourites regardless of their performance and his 'work hard and you'll get your chance' soundbites. Just words he thinks he needs to say,  he loses credibility week on week.

  4. I think teams who drop deep and let us play in front of them nullify Charles' pace, and unfortunately his hold up play just isn't good enough, we rarely work openings in or around the D, we are always forced wide.

No coincidence his form has dropped as more teams play this way against us. If we do go 4 3 3 then really needs be Dadi or Baka as the focul point for me, but is a weak spot currently so hope we get someone in January, a Daryl Murphy type would be perfect!

Evatt's preferred 3CB's & 2 wing backs took us into a play off position & gave us the best defence in the league, so I wouldn't be scrapping it as a reaction to one half of football......I hope that Bradley & Iredale start as the wing backs, with any changes in the other 5.

One thing I do agree with, is that if Dapo is to play, it should be on the left wing/left side of our forwards, but whether we should make changes to the system or players that took us into a play off position, just to accomodate a player who has just had one very good half game, is a different thing.

Devil's advocate - we also scored more in 30 mins using 433 than we had scored in the previous 3.5 matches. Also just shy of 25% of all the goals scored this season!!

We have never looked particularly comfortable against teams who just sit in and frustrate with 3 5 2.

I personally would like to see 4 3 3, Bradley at RB, Dapo as LW and MJ rested.

  6. I'm not too sure about the need for Williams, certainly against a team set-up like Barnsley with the 'low-block'.

MJ offers nothing attacking wise creatively. All our midfielders should be able to provide the defensive cover that was needed today, some better than others granted, but all the others offer more in the attacking third than MJ.

For me, you can see why Blackpool weren't playing him when trying to get out of this div. I would give Morley a run of games there personally.

My ex worked under him at the DCMS for a while, the fact that he's seen as a safe pair of hands now shows how far they have fallen as he wasn't the most respected there by any of the SCS.

The real issue they have is that the pool to draw from is so limited now that even Hunt looks decent in comparison to the rest of the horror show, and you've got a ton of disgruntled ex cabinet ministers now on the back benches sniping.

This ☝️ is bob on. Straight back to austerity, do not pass go.

    If Hunt is the answer.....

    Just watched Kajaki.

By Christ those lads had it tough.

Listening to "oh lancashire, is wonderful... and the wanderers" with gore and limbs everywhere. What a fucking sight that must have been.

Thanks for reminding me about this. It is a great film but seems to have gone under the radar somehow for most?

I had forgotten the Wanderers link too!

Also one of the few military films that hasn't made me wince how they portray squaddies!

The banter, raft of different accents and camaraderie shown is spot on.

  9. Drop a central midfielder and go 3-4-3 for me.

Get Dapo left, Kachunga or Sadlier right of Charles. Although wouldn't mind seeing Bod play as the focul point up front if he had more players close to him to play off.

With Bradley and Iredale/John plus 3 CBs we have 5 defenders on the pitch, surely we can cope with an orthodox CM 2.

Wont happen, but we need Dapo back in team for me, even if it means a change of shape.

  10. I would like to see John come back in, but after Evatt's comments on Iredale offering more strength defensively can't really see it at an away game.

Was expecting John to start yesterday tbh.

Some early tussles with their 7 ,who was a massive shithouse and was allowed to foul at will, put some fire in Kachunga's belly and I thought that was probably his best game for us.

Definitely his most aggressive! We were far the better team and for once got what we deserved

    What did the No.8 do??

biggest concern is Santos because he has already cost us 4-5 points

Yet never been left out?? How can some of those on the bench not be thinking double standards at play by Evatt

Because he is a sad cunt WUM and probably one of the weird multiple personalities who seem to frequent boards. Stupidly I bit today

Ha, prick, for what, calling Santos out for being a gormless cunt!  Like several others on here have too?

Adding to the shite backpass,  Santos stood absolutely still until Trafford hooked it out & then ambled back,  no urgency...... Evatt will rip him a new one at half time.

Will he?? Should never have got back in team. Evatt made his views pretty clear, best CH outside premier league.

If I was Aimson would be having a little chuckle and looking for a new club coz if he gonna pick that calamity in front of you every week your card is marked.

    Nobody said they were.

Its the same when pubs are packed for England in world cup but nobody is arsed when we play Moldova on a Tuesday night in November.

Why do we have to analyse and be critical of folk just enjoying their national team winning a major comp?

    Enjoy the moment or dont.

    Bob on
