  1. A back four of Wilson, Derik, Moxey and Taylor. Looks like Parky's tactics might be sorted for him. F**k defending, let's have a shoot-out
  2. Big Sam chortles over his sunday dinner again. Bilic not the trendy messiah now
  3. Catching them coming into a bit of form by the looks of it, very good win for them at Millwall
  4. Shades of Big Sam about our manager and a Big Sam sort of game, one where he'd have said 'if you can't win it don't lose it' Beevers superb again at back, not much cop passing it forward but rock solid heading and tackling defender. Henry bit more impact today. Proctor never stopped showing and trying but doesn't make ball stick as well as Madine. Could see why they haven't lost any but also why they won't win loads, no final ball or cutting edge. They won't be far away though and we might look back later in season and remember we had a tough start at home.At least three of the four we've played will be expecting to be in top six by May
  5. Not into picking holes in PP's signings or selections at what's still very early days, but the only one that I don't get is his continued ignoring of Derik. Unless PP only sees him as a centre back, in which case he'll have to wait for Wheater or Beevers to be missing, surely he'd have been worth a try as a holding midfielder in Spearing's absence. Of what I saw of him last season, he's got decent pace, can bring ball forward and is a good passer, maybe PP just doesn't think he's physical enough for League One
  6. Think PP said something the other week about Ameobi being at a crossroads in his career, will soon be a dead end based on what we've seen up to now
  7. My thoughts too, hope one of those is capable of anchoring the midfield and shielding defence as well as Spearing has been. Some goals on the bench though if we need them, could be ideal situation for Zach to come back into
  8. Pretty good following, maybe not in Sheff U or Bradford bracket but still good going. We'll see plenty of piddling efforts from others at our place over this season. Hope they get to see us break a hoodoo on their ground, poor record there but no better time to bury it.
  9. Been steadily more impressed with Beevers game by game. Nothing flashy but just does proper defending well. Him and Wheater looking solid pairing
  10. Spearing's will be big boots to fill, was top class again today, best player on pitch
  11. He's unsuited to any role that requires concerted effort for any length of time and the ability to move any faster than a tugboat.
  12. I counted about 180 in a quiet spell first half, a few must have been in the bog or bar
  13. As plenty have said, point as much as we deserved today. Too many off the pace today, complacent after bagging early goal. Spearing head and shoulders best player on the pitch again. Not Anderson's day, didn't happen for him, Henry hasn't shown enough in either game, Trotter anonymous again, offers little going forward and little help to those behind him. Proctor led line well first half, got some poor treatment from one-year ref 2nd half. Ameobi nearly twinkle toed through a couple of times late on but overall an off day against a team who were better than our lot assumed
  14. My mate is Chairman of Rochdale Cricket Club, about 15 min walk from ground, with big car park. Nice, good sized clubhouse, good JW Lees beer range, TV screens. Away fans welcome, open from 5.00. You've to walk through a residential estate to ground so they just ask that you bear the neighbours in mind when you do.
  15. It's still going strong, cracking ale selection. Couple of decent cheap Sam Smith's pubs in striking distance, not sure about if any match day policies but will post anything I find out
  16. As you'll guess from profile name, live local and get down there when. I can. Same as, enjoyed seeing good number of games when they went up first time under Hill and Flitcroft. They deserve better support than they get but those that go are all right. Willbutts Lane chippy across the road from away end is a belter
  17. It's good to have people who look and sound like they know what they're doing at all levels of the club and seem to want to do it in a pragmatic, understated sort of way.
  18. Vela wasn't switched on and let their lad run unnoticed into the freedom of that side of the box. If we can get out of the habit of starting slow at home, against teams who no doubt think about grabbing something to defend early doors we'll be fine.
  19. Madine played like he knew there's competition for places and had to step up. Looked good today till he tweaked groin late in first half, held ball up well and got about the pitch better. Having said that, Proctor also looked a handful of a different sort, quicker, more mobile and technically pretty good. Ameobi showed some nifty touches but Anderson was less involved when he had to move back to accommodate him. Anderson needs to stay right on their centre backs, when he was there they were shitting themselves. Him in and Woolery out looks good business, Anderson's a far more talented player and can play with back to goal
  20. One of those days indeed, bit better run of the ball in and around their box and we'd have won easy. We'll only lose a game in this league if we doze off and hand somebody a goal. Enjoyed it again though, lots of promise for coming weeks and months, we played some of the best football I've seen from us for a long while 2nd half, looked after the ball well and moved them all over the place.
  21. Henry looks a really sound signing, strong sort for an area we've been weakened in. Ameobi for a bit of left sided width, the young Palace lad could be anything. I can't do with Maxine but keeping him rather than losing him might prove to be good business, always likely he'd find his level again in League 1 and score a decent number
  22. Juke looked like what'd be a very expensive cart horse the other night. Probably short of match sharpness as they say, but looked to have gone backwards from the bloke we had last time round If Clayton's a write off and there's still chance of Clough exiting, with us already having Madine and Proctor, I'd have thought a smaller, nippier type of forward would be more in Parky's mind
  23. Can't see why Boro would be interested in Clough when somebody like Rhodes doesn't look like he'll get much game time
  24. Think PP's worked out his stamina is limited and said to him put yourself about as much as poss for 70 mins or so then somebody else will do the last 20.
