  1. He won't be short of offers at end of season
  2. I'd love to think we could still do it but we've to win three more of the remaning games than current 4th bottom. With our record so far this season, that realistically means they'll have to win none
  3. This. Too many times when Feeney put ball into dangerous areas we had three men hanging back at edge of box. Once or twice Feeney could have seen that option but more often than not his team mates should have been hungrier and braver
  4. One of my all time favourite comedy moments
  5. Although we accepted he wasn't a full back last season he did make a decent fist of it, a long way worse than that lately and yesterday a stinker. The fact he's that bad but has seen off at least two replacements says everything about Lennon's limitations as a judge of a player and a manager
  6. Back to same issue as last season, flaky mentality and lack of ruthlessness. If game had been other way round, one of QPR would have legged Phillips up or dragged him back by the shirt before he got in shooting range. Agree about poor attempt at keeping it in the corner, was stood there, they shouldn't have got out. From then, catalogue of failings we've seen all too often. No issue with sub, Clough scored a worldy and showed why he needs looking after, he'd won us the game, done his job, the rest should have seen it out. Vela's gone backwards but wasn't helped today by not having Feeney in front of him. Holding will think football's a piece of pisss when he has somebody other than Dervite for company, utter shite
  7. I reckon he'd be as fast over a 60m race. There the comparisons end for now. Would like to see his pace made more use of playing off Madine, if the rest of the formation could accommodate it. Madine looked happier that odd time Clayton played just off him and made use of the headers and lay-offs he managed. Woollery's pace would certainly put the wind up some defences, if used in the right way
  8. Would like to see Woollery play off Madine, but Lennon prob won't do it before last 20 mins of a game. Trotter made a big contribution at both ends in a short time and Spearing showed what he can do, especially last 15 mins or so, loads of tackles and headers that kept us in possession. Holding's a real prospect, learning the hard way in a crap team with a lump beside him, no wonder somebody tried to steal him on deadline day
  9. However limited Madine is, we missed him today, Heskey was immobile. Mavies did absolutely zero till that late contribution. Trotter should have started, we improved loads after his arrival (can't believe I'm saying that). The cheering when Pratley went off was brainless, as was all the 'attack attack attack' bollocks. They weren't being Man U, tapping it about for the sake of keeping possession, they were trying to go forward but were just a bit shit at it, that's why they were bottom of the league FFS
  10. A bit out of area but if you ever find yourself peckish in Shaw, nr Oldham, I can vouch for Armstrong's on the main Street. The jumbo cod have to be seen to be believed. They also have a branch in Prestwich
  11. Good if we don't lose any of the few who give us a faint hope of survival by staying, we've cleared a load off the wage bill, will that free up any money for the return of any we have out on loan if they aren't on season-long deals? A few out there who can't be any worse than what we have and could freshen things up. Wilson back from Posh already.
  12. Could be a humongous Home Bargains on stilts with parking underneath
  13. The risk in signing any of the four foreign defenders Lennon brought in was would they take to English football, especially at Championship level, The answer, unfortunately, is a resounding 'no'. Halfway through the season we're back with the rag bag assortment of a defence he thought was shite back end of last season
  14. He played at least 20 games in each of the four season we finished in the top 8 of the Prem, and at least 30 in two of those. He would have played more but for popping his shoulder out every other week. We had the best of him without doubt, but he'd look like Cafu in this shower of shite we currently have to endure
  15. If we're desperately shifting players out to drive down the wage bill, may as well also fire off that bloke Walford as he's making zero impact on our defending. Only mitigating factor (and it's a big one I suppose) is that the tools he's to work with are pretty poor, and most of them are too soft and too lazy to carry out whatever his instructions have been on the training ground. No idea either why Lennon's given Woollery such limited game time up to now, his pace will worry defences if nothing else, and he might make Madine slightly less of a clogger if he could get onto the flick ons he does will now and again. Looks like the cost cutting's extended to switching off the grass growing lights, pitch looked the most threadbare I've seen it for years.
  16. There was a strong smell of shit wafting over from the pitch for most of the afternoon
  17. Tried East Upper for first time, view good, though sun in eyes any lower than about row LL, and it was bloody freezing. As usual, we were far too easily scored through, one stray pass halfway in their half shouldn't result in a goal conceded 10 seconds later but with us it happens every week.
  18. We'd actually threatened that a couple of times, they faffed at clearing corners but no-one to get on second ball till this one
  19. Just doing what they have to, second half absolute non event. Couple of half chances for us, good blocks by them. Lack of fight from us is embarrassing
  20. Shocking first goal conceded, game set up for them after, we stumble forward, give it away, they slice through us on break. Little chink of light last week but back to type today, outclassed by a moderate mid table outfit
  21. What a great word though, well worth a couple of airings
  22. Madine's what he is, a League 1 player, no more no less. If we go down, he'll get a decent number and, to be honest, he's scored as many now as I thought he'd get all season. Did OK today, won plenty of balls in the air, held it up fairly well, handful in their box when crosses were flung in, But, if he was a bit brighter and could read crosses better he'd have hung back a yard and been able to attack the purler of a cross Feeney put in second half for him
  23. Certainly got something about him, reads the game well, made a couple of really good interceptions today and looks balanced and confident bringing the ball forward. Tough baptism for him in our side and current situation but the experience will do him good in the long term
  24. They were really poor, and if we go down they'll be with us but so what, just nice to come home on a Saturday night with that winning feeling. Yes we should have killed them off 2nd half and the goal we gave away was a poor one but lots of positives and some big improvements, especially Trotter. Holding's learning in a tough situation but did really well today, read things well and brought ball forward with confidence, especially that great run 2nd half. Vital that we did win today and keep in touch, if we can find one or two more wins against those down in the doldrums with us, who knows?
  25. Never thought it 'd be a done deal till it was all smiles in the medical room, not with his track record, though Iles suggesting some jiggery pokery by Sheff Wed about it
