  1. You must have been there, as he did mean Muamba "the ?6m black lad in midfield"

I thought Muamba did OK when he came on (and it was the right substitution at the right time IMO)

Couldn't quite understand AOB for puygrenier, though.

    BUT>>>>>>>>>>>>>IT WORKED!!!

Either Puygrenier was carrying a knock from that hefty challenge (the one that the hammer got booked for) or it was because he won nothing in the air all afternoon.

  2. it doesnt its three points, lovely to watch

We didn't play 'shite'. There was a lot that wasn't very convincing about our performance but to call it 'shite' is OTT. Just as in 'Megson is shite', 'Muamba is shite', 'Elmander is shite', 'Kevin Davies is shite'. All of which I've heard at the Reebok this season.

3 points, 30 points. 12th in Premier League. That is not shite for BWFC. :yahoo:

  3. Maybe he meant Muamba. Which in that case i agree. ?5 million. We've been robbed.

But still you should get behind the side.

bwfc dan, I find myself disagreeing with almost everything you come out with. West Ham a crap side? Let's see where they finish. Muamba not worth ?5m in todays (admittedly crazy) market? Let's see on that one as well shall we?

  4. I was quite impressed with them. Stroked the ball about quite well, often the simple ball whereas we appear to try and complicate things, needlessly IMO. Some good footballers in that side.Thought Carlton Cole looked dangerous throughout, don't rate his Italalian partner though. I would think they are quite miffed they didn't get anything

Thought we battled well though, none more than SKD who had a right battle with Upson. 3 good points. Onwards and upwards. :drinks:

  5. No idea about the others but Utd brought at least 1800 less this season than last!

Plus City nowhere near sold out, which as they are so massive was surprising. We will always struggle to get people through the gate but the club has tried. Plus it's not just us these days who are struggling to get bums on seats. I certainly don't agree that the away followings have been much higher than usual. Utd (due to the ticketing policy), City, certainly brought less than in previous seasons and I don't think Everton, Arsenal & Spurs sold out.

We are always knocking ourselves. Why don't we give credit to those who keep the faith and support their local team. Given that we live in a win at all cost society and the number of massive clubs on our doorstep, we should look after the 18,000 or so 'regulars'. The club has a fine balancing act to do this and attract back some support without making a season ticket unattractive. I would say the club has done ok in showing an increase in gates, however modest in today's financial situation.

  6. That muppet couldn't hit a barn door before his 'good luck' over the last few games. The man's shite so I wouldn't worry too much about him even if he did play Cahill would have him in his back pocket.

You're probably right. He never fulfilled his potential. I remember one match he played for Chelsea (when he'd just got into the team I think) and he gave Gudni the runaround that day. Not many did that.

  7. My god, being a Mod has gone to your head. Do me a favour and delete my account, dealing with people like yourselves is far too much hassle. Seeing that there is only one opinion allowed on here, and childish name calling from a mod seems to be the direction that you lot want to take, i suggest you change this to the under 5's club, best fitting your mentality

If you think Michalik and Fojut not being good enough is another reason to have a pop at Megson then you are a prick. As for opinions they are like arseholes, everbody's got one.

  8. Lot of very honest, interesting points on this thread. I've been going since 1976 and it is clear that a lot of fans from that era onwards have fallen out of love with the modern game rather than particularly with BWFC in my opinion. I have a lot of sympathy with this but also think that nostalgia can be a little selective in that we tend to remember the good things and gloss over the bad. But yes there are things that were better in the past but life moves on. Nothing seems to last forever. Except the idiots maybe. They have always been there. From those that enjoy slagging of certain players/managers/board members to those that seem to have no perspective in relation to a club like ours being in the Premiership at all, let alone being established there. But I don't think that relegation will be good for the club in any shape or form. I do not want to sit in a half empty (or worse) Reebok just to raise the IQ level or count myself as a 'real' fan.

Days like yesterday though remind me that I do still love the club. When KD banged that one in, the feeling of sheer joy was still there. My 10yr old went mad too and I know it made his weekend as well. As long as that feeling is still there I'll still keep going. After Saturday I'll be looking forward to the next home match and I can see the mood improving this season around the place.

  9. Sorry, im totally at the other end of the scale?

To soon to judge, give him time etc

im sorry, but im happy with what he is doing, im more than happy.

ffs, spurs have spent how much and are below us

i do wonder what it is megson has to achieve for him to be accepted.

I will put aside some doubts and concentrate on the positives and get behind him. I can see what he is trying to do re team building and the type of mostly younger players he is bringing in plus I was disgusted by the personal abuse at Blackburn.

P.S. Just as I was feeling positive I see on Sky Text a letter from one of the 'idiots'. Apparently it's Megson's fault Nolan(one of our best players according to this guy) was sold and he is undoing all Big Sam's good work.(No mention of repairing 'Little Sam's work) Unbelievable. :nea:

  10. i'm not one of the idiots as it were

but blackburn were really poor and we went 2-0 up without having to do that much :good:

tactically I didn't think we were that great in that first half, less so in the 2nd half when they came at us and improved themselves

bad tactics don't necessarily lose games

whereas good tactics don't necessarily mean you win

    likewise

playing well doesn't mean you win, playing badly doesn't mean you lose

not liking megson doesn't make you a idiot, backing him doesn't make you more astute/clever/intelligent =D>

why does everything have to be so black and white at the moment?

  11. Spot on. It seems a lot of people have this simplistic view that if you go 2 goals up at half time, the game is all but won and it would take a terrible tactician to throw it away.

Do none of these plebs take into account the fact that the opposition are also a factor? Any team 2-0 down at half time is going to go all-out hell-for-leather attack in the second half, and you don't have much option other than to try to soak it up and get them on the break.

What kills it is when they score to make it 2-1 and the supporters act as if we've gone 3-2 down.

So I'm a pleb because I think it's suicide to to try and defend for 45 minutes. 2-0 is a difficult position to defend but come on, we played right into Blackburns hands.Yes there are some absolute idiots who blame Megson for everything and I include those who abused him on Wednesday but there are also some smug, pretentious posters on here who think they are better than everyone else. Not everybody who thinks Megson is clueless is a idiot you know.

  12. If someone offered us ?50m for Cahill

And ?4m for a player who goes for nothing this summer, we would do the same.

Didn't we knock back a similar sum for TBH who then left for free in the Summer? I'm not saying it was the right thing to do but it shows the club are in a no win situation. With hindsight we should have take the money but that would have caused an outcry at the time.

  13. Why not spend 30 million to keep us in the prem?

Infact, I heard you get about 70 million more winning the premiership than you do getting relegated.

So we can spend 70 million and get it back when we win the prem

Then we can spend the money we would get for winning the champions league

hang on, this is starting to sound familiar

    Here we go again

Anyone who is not happy at the moment with our manager or direction obviously thinks we should be beating Utd 8-0, winning the Champions League, signing Messi blah blah blah.

Bollocks. We just escaped relegation last season and I thought we'd learned our lesson. Then it was a goalscorer, now it's a creative midfielder (although you could argue we still haven't solved the goal scorer yet as we don't seem to know what to do up front). So we have probably decided that as there are 3 worse sides than us so we don't need to take a risk on Bullard. We have to secure our short term while still planning long term. What other proven 'creative' premiership midfielders are going to be available in January? So now it is going to be a lot closer in May than it might have been.

  14. This thread should be called 'how long do we keep patience with Gary Megson'. Megson is not playing to SKD's strengths. Or Elmander's come to think of it. I could go on but I know I'm starting to sound like a stuck record so i won't.

But on Saturday KD was totally out of position (first half). A more efficient United side would have punished us more, they were going past him like he wasn't there.

  15. I don't pretend to know a lot about Bullard, but must admit the few times I've seen him he's looked OK. What I don't understand is that if he is that good, why nobody bigger/better than Hull has signed him, and just as importantly, why Fulham are happy to let him leave for ?5M, instead of just offering him the wage he wants..................

That still doesn't mean he couldn't do a job for us. We are Bolton, we tend to sign players who for whatever reason aren't doing it for their clubs and are deemed surplus to requirements. Very rarely are we in a position to sign an Anelka type player.

You can try and dress it up however you like but I am disappointed and worried about the rest of this season. Megson did rate Bullard otherwise he wouldn't have pursued him at all. I think he would have been a cracking signing. Let's see what comes in but it ain't looking good.

  16. So Bullard has signed for Hull. Not Everton/Villa/Newcastle or the other clubs we can't normally compete with in the glamour stakes but Hull FFS. So where is the creative midfielder we are crying out for going to come from? Who is going to score the goals? Very disappointed.

All we need is a pre deadline swoop for Joey Barton to finish it for me.

  17. Its a bit unfair to have a poll for 3 matches so far apart as many of the posters on here were too young for the 1978 match. As someone who went to all 3 (honestly) there really is no comparison. The importance of that match in 78 and the build up to the game over the previous days was unique, bearing in mind the previous two seasons failed attempts at promotion. The events that night will never be repeated. If there was one match that I could re-live it would be that night in Blackburn in 1978!

The day after, I contacted the Daily Express and bought the copy of the photo of Frank Worthington scoring the winner. The picture has been on display either at home or work in some form or another for 31 years1

I was 10 in 1978 so memories are a bit hazy but it was a special night. I mostly remember walking back to the car after the match, just a sea of Bolton singing and celebrating. I also remember the ground being jam packed and people stood on that hill between the stands watching for free. My dad couldn't take me but a Blackburn mate of his (season ticket holder)when he heard said you can't let a Bolton fan miss a match like this and he came over from Darwen and took me. Always be grateful for that. Also remember the next home game v Fulham, pitch invasion, 'Big Sam Eats Craven Cottage Pie' and 'We are the Champions' baring out from the tannoy. Happy days.

P.S. Does anyone else remember the commemorative Promotion jigsaw issued by the BEN. It came in a cylindrical tin and had the team photo on one side and the front page of the BEN when we won promotion on the other. 'Back Where We Belong'. Found mine the other day in a clear out.

  18. Interesting post. I am an Allardyce fan. Best manager in my living memory and IMO a shame we don't still have him

If you'd care to check back over WWays history, you couldn't class me as a big fan of Gary Megson. I ain't one of the ones who has to resort to Smegson, Mugson etc. jibes either. He's here and we have to give him a chance. We put a good run together a few games back and, now the toughest games are over, I hope we can do it again. We have to give them chance FFS. Much as Gary Megson will be 'doing alright' if this happens, I am convinced he is not a long term proposition for BWFC.

Don't get all this negative shiyte about 'getting dicked by Blackburn'. You and your mate Mart aren't French surrender monkeys by any chance?

    Come on you white men.

Bolty, I've read most of your posts and you come across as a top bloke and 100% Wanderer (and Englishman) I agree with everything you said above. I have just got a bad feeling about the Blackburn game, probably because it's Sam, that's all. I really hope we do go on a run now, I do not want Megson to fail, just don't think we are going forward under him.
