  1. I've had Talksport on most of the afternoon and not heard owt
  2. I agree, Cahill would slot right into Arsenal's defence, perfectly. We could then go on and buy 2 or 3 players with the money but it's the indecision from Arsenal that's holding everything up. They've watched Cahill 20+ times so obviously rate him and want him but they need to stump up their cash. Until Cahill is sold, I can't see anything big happening in the transfer market for us.
  3. That is contradicted on Footybunker.com. They're saying Arsenal have been priced out and are turning their attention to Per Mertesacker, for half the money we want for GC.
  4. Where were the funds supposed to be coming from? Who were the two players in question and what were their wages going to be? If you spend money that you don't have, there will only ever be one outcome for a club our size, and bigger, just look at Leeds United. This is exactly what went wrong at Leeds; they pushed, beyond their means, for Euro success and ended up flat on their asses in division 2. If he had been given the money, he would've kept asking for more and more - a bit like a kid in a sweet shop. I had to laugh at his quote, "All we have to do is have a mediocre 17 games and we are going to finish in the Champions League." Is that all, Sam? 17 games? That would've been a breeze!
  5. I don't understand the subheading, 'Ten English Sides Who Made Surprise Outings in Europe'. All ten clubs mentioned, qualified on merit while other clubs that have wormed there way in, eg Fulham and Birmingham aren't mentioned.
  6. I don't understand the hatred for plastic Mancs; the ones from Grimsby or Swindon who've never been to Manchester, let alone Old Trafford. These muppets aren't a threat or rivals, and proper Man Utd fans hate them as much as they hate Liverpool or Man City. i really don't get narked when hear a Man Utd fan with a southern accent - I just laugh at the plum. Surely our hatred should be with the genuine Mancunians who actually go to games and who turn up at The Reebok giving it the big one.
  7. Not sure where I read this! Obviously duff info
  8. I'm not sure what it's about but Joey Barton is meant to be appearing with Mozza. He's on live now and being shown on BBC4 at 9pm
  9. This is my point, Danny. Anyone having a few pints and getting straight behind the wheel is bang out of order and cannot be defended. However, there's no way that after a good night's sleep, you are drunk or even tipsy - you are merely hungover and you are are being done on a technicality of having alcohol still in your bloodstream.
  10. You're right. Police are obviously targeting hard working people who are up early, trying to earn a crust. Fair enough, alcohol may technically, still be in the system but are they 'drunk'? We've all got in our cars the morning after a few beers and it certainly doesn't feel the same as having 3 pints and then driving immediately afterwards.
  11. We did it yesterday. It can get busy on hot days. The Victoria line to Leeds line is another option but you need more time.
  12. Of course he got ideas above his station! He wanted the England job, and from the moment this became apparent it was a downward spiral for Bolton Wanderers.
  13. Why would he lose interest then ask to buy two new players? I think the jist of things were, Sam got ideas above his station and wanted the England job. This was a catalyst that sent Bolton Wanderers on a downward spiral.
  14. Sam's first few games are crucial. If they get off to a good start he could go on to do well. If the opposite happens, the fans and media will be all over him like a rash. My prediction is the latter, he'll be out by Christmas and never manage again.
  15. I saw a documentary on this about five years ago. I watched in stunned disbelief as blokes were actually going out with these dolls - to the shops, seaside etc. I think it was called Guys And Their Dolls
  16. The menu belongs to the children therefore it's a children's menu, not a childrens' menu! The apostrophe could've come afterwards if it had been kids' menu. Easy! This is basic grammar that I learnt at primary school
  17. I initially thought of Carlisle Utd, as we definitely played them in Division 4. However, I don't think we met them in the top flight. It would've been mid 70s when they were in div 1
  18. I can only think of the obvious - beating Reading at Wembley
  19. Or you can see the plural overcooked, (so to speak!) as I did in a pub the other day when I saw: childrens' menu, children of course is already plural!
  20. The incorrect use of the apostrophe really narks me too... MOT's, CD's and HGV's are the most common mistakes.
  21. What substance is that story (link) based on? It merely says, "according to reports". What reports...?
  22. Hotel in Cardiff with a Welsh lass, DURING the League Cup Final V Boro Sorry but it's true!
  23. But it could be counter argued that our fantastic performances, earlier in the season, have earned us ten times the sum of ?4.53M by getting us over the 40 point mark My glass is half full
