The short passing game at the back, when done badly as in that 2nd half spell, soon becomes long ball anyway. 3 panicked short passes while under pressure then invariably someone hoofs it away. I tend to agree. I left Bloomfield Road, only marginally disappointed and quite impressed with the backing Blackpool fans, as few as there were, gave their team. Gomes was fine first half and looked our most likely goalscorer. I suspect his best position is as an attacking midfielder against weaker, low block type opponents, or as Traf says, a 2nd attacker. I'm fairly certain now that he's no wingback, though.
