  1. To be fair, if he's retired, he's probably older than you as well, so his opinion is more valid.
  2. I know you're being silly, BUT. Second half, Jerome was "warming up" on WSL and appeared to be shouting orders at Bod and Dan, like an attacking coach. If Jerome can actually share some wisdom from his better days, that's not a bad thing to have. If it means he doesn't play, even better!
  3. Vital to not throw that away. Northampton were the worst side I've seen come here in League 1. If we had been playing anyone else today, we perhaps wouldnt have won... but, you can only play whats in front of you. Baffled by the Jekyll and Hyde performance, but positive hat on, there's flashes of brilliance in this side. Just wish they'd had the confidence to push on; there was opportunity for a cricket score today.
  4. If he keeps that fake tan fascist out of the White House, it will be the one positive thing to come out of his rotten existence.
  5. Just to pick up on this (and I think the original point was moot, btw), but you're comparing a global Jewish population of 16m with a global Muslim population of well over 1.5bn! With around 7.5m Palestinians living in the middle east (including Lebanon, Jordan, etc.), it's probably a more fair comparison. But as I say (in the grand scheme), it's moot!
  6. Seconded. I went out with my missus a couple of years back, had a little session in one of the beer halls supping these silly oversized shot glasses of fizz. "Haha, it's like drinking shandy", we ignorantly quipped, as we invited the gigantic waiter / thimble delivery guy to keep swapping our glasses and marking our beer mats (an honesty based system that wouldn't work in the UK!!) Wham - both battered, both absolutely steaming next day. Underestimate it at your peril.
  7. Political discourse, with the assistance of social media, is now completely binary. No middle ground, no rational analysis - seemingly every person's opinion on everything global is all about their entrenched belief being "right". It's exhausting even from my Western ivory tower of safety. Meanwhile in this conflict, there are thousands dying, hundreds of thousands physically destitute, and millions in fear for their lives - no matter what side of the fence they live on, or what scripture they read. But nah, forget the complete breakdown in the human condition caused by a few old men with massive weapons and tiny peckers, it's all about Team X or Team Y being to "blame" while the other is absolved of guilt.
  8. Hands up, I didn't go to the game, and I haven't seen any "highlights". (Montenegro is properly lovely, btw gents.) I understand it was shit, we were done by a team on their big day out, we're too easy to play against, Evatt is stubborn, etc, etc. Fair, I'll take the word of everyone who went. But fuck me, I am absolutely baffled by the Evatt Out sentiment from some on here. Aye, let's pot a bright young manager trying to emulate the best tactician of the modern era on a beans-on-toast budget. Sure, OK... so who is coming in to rocket us to promotion? I wonder what Nigel Adkins is up to these days? Maybe even Mick McCarthy, because he likes an aggressive DM and loves to "get it in the fucking mixer"? Bearing in mind the season isn't 1/4 through... it's all a bit fucking knee jerk this. Hey, maybe forget me mentioning Adkins and McCarthy - Pep will be available soon as City lost to Wolves and Arsenal this past week(!) Be reyt. 2 week break, we go again, with some new faces back in contention. Enjoy the ride. We'd be bored if we won every week. Love, A holidaying happyclapper
  9. Great result, excellent first half but would have loved us to have tested the keeper more. Proper resolve as the game went on, fantastic. Thought the 2700 of us in the away end gave a decent account too. Dion's goal well taken of course, but in general, I thought Nlundulu did really well at holding up and distributing - may have found his niche. Excited for the week now!
  10. Red right in front of me. Absolutely no question - appalling and needless challenge. Jones has been mostly terrible this season. Nice ball to JDC for the assist 1 min before though. Dempsey lucky to not get sent off with his early 2nd half tackle too. As Casino said, Teflon. Fucking abysmal today but I have barely seen his shocker mentioned. A few slating Thomason again, shock. Odd. I thought he was one of our better players. Loads of talk about the 4 at the back second half being more solid. Ignoring the luck we had with the woodwork, I wouldn't say its a fair comparison, with us having the wide attackers dropping in to make it a 6 man defence. Would love to see more of Bod next week. And yes... my optimistic call of a Dan screamer proved why I am not a betting man. Anyway. Massive credit to see out the second half onslaught and take a point. Especially for a side that has no backbone, or something...
  11. Some proper negativity on this thread. I'm surprisingly confident. Fuck it, 4-0. Nlundulu to score an absolute howitzer. #happyclapper
  12. Evatt's teams have long been criticised for having no fight, no backbone. In that second half, I thought we had both, in spades. Backs to the wall against a side on the attack, who, let's not forget, made the Championship play offs last year... and we showed plenty of bottle, before being undone by two classy subs and a belting strike. I'd have loved a sneaky penalty shoot out, but hey, wasn't to be. Other fish to fry. That said, I'm still racking my brain how Charles missed his 1-on-1.
  13. Also would mean we could command a bigger fee in the event Stoke were still keen. Win win. Cheers to those explaining the Dan fee, I was certain he was out of contract. Jury's still out, but I'll back him to come good.
  14. Daft one, and I've seen it mentioned a few times on here (a c.£300k purchase). Did we actually spend a fee on Nlundulu? I honestly thought his contract was up at Southampton and we got him on a free...?
  15. Everton v Bolton first game in the new stadium, with a goal dubiously chalked off for the home team?
  16. Can't disagree. So many things went wrong yesterday that it's almost irrelevant. Just an observation that probably demonstrates that I'm still in the "bargaining" stage of grief.
  17. On today's showing, Everton will be lucky to beat Derby's record low points tally. Truly abysmal.
  18. I was particularly fuming with Jones's passing yesterday, but is there anything around the strikers not coming short like Charles does so often? So many times, his passes were aimed on the deck to a striker, but were 10 yards short as Vic and Dan were static. Not defending Jones btw, it was appalling, but it perhaps illustrates how important that deep lying striker is to our play.
  19. Horror show all over. They wanted it more, and absolutely bullied us from start to... well, I left after the fourth. I've never left a game that early before. Won't go over the negatives again and again, but a tiny glimmer from today - Maghoma and Mendes Gomes look useful. Rivals, not rivals? Personally, I can't fucking stand them. Today hurt.
  20. Someone far more learned than me on the matter would have to confirm what video tech, if any, is allowed on the touchline by the FA. I honestly don't know!
  21. Iles tweeted that Pete Atherton had said Evatt had been sent off for "misuse of technology". Could be either. Sorry, thought I'd seen that tweet on here, apparently not.
  22. Oh no, I'm with you. Ridiculous, but it's in the rules. Looked like the fourth official shopped him for it. Who'd have thought referees would be jobsworth twats(!)?
  23. Incredibly... he has. Who knew? "A team official who uses unauthorised equipment or who behaves in an inappropriate manner as a result of the use of electronic or communication equipment will be sent off." https://www.thefa.com/football-rules-governance/lawsandrules/laws/football-11-11/law-4---the-players-equipment No idea what the punishment will be - is it just 1, or more, for a managerial straight red?
