  1. I think you would find the feeling was more than mutual. Garty couldn't stick him either and if Eddie had a barge pole he'd have kept Iles well beyond the end of it.
  2. They aren't. The majority have no problem at all with his half-truths, evasive selectivity and pot-stirring personality. Can't get enough of it some of em.
  3. KA's in a hole and maybe could fight his way out of it. He's not the kind to roll over easily but you are going to have to explain to me how he is going to profit. Do you mean to say somebody is going to pay him more than he is owed and more than he owes Fildraw? Quantuma can't do that, so who can and who would?
  4. My cat's not stupid. Its choosy and wouldn't go anywhere near Marc Iles.
  5. And, of course, what he fails to write about. Iles is selective and he and the ST have been stirring the pot at BWFC, not just since Ken Anderson arrived on the scene, but before anyone had even heard of him in connection with BWFC. And it wasn't just Iles, Bonnar was every bit as bad. Its toxic and any new owner, after shelling out millions, will have to live with it in the confident expectation that, if they ever see any of it again, they'll be the subject of torrents of abuse.
  6. Has the penny not dropped yet that, without PBP's £12m (i.e. Michael James and Tom Morris), we'd have gone belly up over three years ago?
  7. Meanwhile our former saviour, Dean Holdsworth, has formed another company and added consultant educator to his multi-faceted CV. His erstwhile friends and confidantes at the ST will be so pleased. Maybe they should ask him if he'll lend them a few bob to save the club again.
  8. Forget the idea anyone is going to buy us. Closest we came to that was Bassini's £200K with an unfulfilled promise to pay off the debts. Forget also the idea that Ken Anderson is going to get anything out of it other than the money he put in, which he borrowed from Fildraw/EDT who want their money back. If anyone does take it on they will have to find £millions to fund a continually loss-making business with a great pile of debt even after much of the debt has been wiped off during the administration. According to the administrators FV have come up with a figure of £24m (including the debts taken over) but they will not be paying any more than a quid for the shares. An unattractive proposition is made even worse by the attitude and activities of the local newspaper.
  9. Couldn't help noticing one of the FIBS 'talking about this'. No other words for FIBS other than 'utterly deluded'.
  10. Thought so.Too much of a coincidence to be a coincidence. Was I right in thinking that Judge Eyres would have been unimpressed by the language? That kind of stuff smacks of a poor case and feeble hyperbole
  11. Does anyone know if the Budworth representing Bassini was the same Budworth that acted for McGill in the case against BWFC involving the signing of Gavin McCann in 2007? The reported wording in the Beeno of representations made on behalf of Bassini set off my alarm bells. I'd expect them to have set Judge Eyre's alarm bells off too.
  12. And if PH is still with the club if or when the next lot take over, he'll have the unenviable task of trying to calm down new owners seething with rage at the distortion, misrepresentation and falsehood of the usual suspects.
  13. Really sorry to hear that Emma is leaving BWFC to become Man City's Women's Team's Comms Manager. Emma is another that will be hugely missed but good luck to her in her new role.
  14. Precisely. It seems unlikely that any funding is going to come only from MJ and SB so there will be other parties with their view of proceedings. Its my understanding that, before contentious matters get to court at all, lawyers are expected to make very effort to attempt mediation first. I don't know if that happened in this case but it does seem to me that the judge did all that could have been expected of him yesterday to allow the FV deal to proceed.
  15. Don't some folk look at things in a strange way? I'd have thought that you would need to have a good reason for throwing good money after bad rather than an excuse for not doing.
  16. Court proceedings don't always have predictable outcomes but on the basis of his background and reputation, I'd be surprised if Judge Eyre would order specific performance in favour of Bassini. As for compensation for Bassini's loss, I'd suggest that that would be the difference between the 200K he had offered and the amount the shares were worth. In circumstances where there seemed to be no-one other than Bassini willing to pay anything for the shares and EDT seemingly unwilling to take them on at all, I'd expect any claim of loss to be thrown out. I'm pleased to see that there is a report on the proceedings in the Grauniad this morning albeit not from my good friend, Mr Conn. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2019/aug/14/bolton-sale-injunction-football Presently no sign of any comment from the ST's, Terrence Rigby, though. I've heard a lot of claptrap in my time but the last ST open meeting is right up there with the most memorable. Weren't they supposed to be holding an AGM btw?
  17. There's an area glossed over by Rubins (maybe it was expedient to leave it vague) but Ken owes Fildraw the money he borrowed to pay off Blumarble and any other monies borrowed from Fildraw to keep the club going previously. I suspect Ken's £7.5m is accurate but Fildraw/ EDT may well be looking at a compromise in relation to the amounts owed to it by KA and BL respectively.
  18. Interesting that. Helps pull a few things together. It seems that KA agreed to sell the 94.5% BL shares to Bassini for half the £250K paid to Holdsworth in May 2016 and the £150K paid to Quantuma in Aug/Sept 2017 to acquire Holdsworth's BL shares. No big bucks involved in this but large sums were needed to settle overdue secured and unsecured creditors and fund losses for the next two years. This was the real 'proof of funding' test.
  19. Pleased to hear that Jack Dearden's filling his face with egg on toast rather than wasting his time talking to ST supremo, Terrence Rigby.
  20. If its informed journalism and perceptive comments you are after, stick to reading the Beeno, Old Bean.
  21. Here's a bit about Stephen Eyre's background before he was appointed a judge in 2015. http://st-phillips.com/v7/web/FILES/Member_CVs/StephenEyre_cv.pdf He's had a couple of public interest cases since his appointment. One involved fraud allegations against former UKIP MEP, Nikki Sinclaire. Ms Sinclaire was found not guilty. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-36640963 More recently he presided in a case brought by the NUM involving a loan to its former leader, Arthur Scargill, who Judge Eyre found to be an unreliable witness https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/unreliable-arthur-scargill-could-get-300-000-bill-over-miners-union-loan-b02bntgd0 No report on this from Orgreave-obsessed David Conn or on the travails of BWFC so far as I can see. Would someone tell me if I've missed something?
  22. Where did you get the idea that there was any realistic prospect of 'long term sustainable growth' in the EFL? The best you can hope for is minimising your losses, a sugar daddy to make up the difference and a few lucky breaks to help you beat the odds.
  23. I knew about Eddie's donations to the Royal Bolton Hospital, Manchester Business School, Bolton Museum, Kew Gardens and the V&A but, as Eddie was not inclined to do everything in a blaze of publicity, I expect there were others I don't know about.
  24. I suppose it is, but my point was really about Eddie. Another interesting thing I recently came across was that his son, Roger, ran ten marathons in ten days and did a million step ups for charity. Eddie could have written a cheque for 100 times whatever Roger raised without blinking but I suspect he thought his children would be better people and better served if they made their own successes in life.
