  1. Problem is their GD has picked up and they have a game in hand on us so that's another team we're going to have to put in their place.
  2. Luton miss a sitter as Barkley puts a Morris headed pass over the bar from 2 yds
  3. Bournemouth pull back another.
  4. If JDB, Collins and Paris take those dribbling skills into the box we will. Shit half. Stevenage dominated the half but end it a goal down. That said, neither team has shown us anything to worry about.
  5. Burrows gives Posh an undeserved lead.
  6. Stevenage's tactics are excellent - Posh can't do anything going forward ATM - but when they get possession, Stevenage lack quality and some of their passing is appalling. FFS ref gives Posh a soft pen.
  7. Posh don't seem to like the pressure and gave it away at the edge of the box - Roberts shot just over the bar.
  8. Stevenage slightly the better team in the first 30 mins. Team of big energetic lads - Posh can't get going so far and Kiprianou has picked up his 10th yellow of the season so he'll be out for the next two games.
  9. Absolutely rooting for Stevenage to burn Posh's game in hand on us. All the U's are rooting for Posh though.
  10. Don't know how we'll go on against Derby - complete contrast in styles. They're solid and have good strikers but if we play with the same intensity and pace as last night we'll outpass and outscore them. For me, the best aspect of last night is that we didn't overcomplicate things and the players had the freedom to take defenders on and shoot when they thought they had a chance. It was almost as if Evatt said forget the "processes" - just go out and do what comes naturally for you. As long as he doesn't overthink it and reel the lads back in again through worrying about Derby's attack we should be reet. Slight concern about injuries and discipline for this one though - it'll be intense.
  11. 220 hardy souls God Bless 'em. Gotta feel sorry for them.
  12. You say that but the chances are they prepared for the tentative crap we've been serving up for ages now, as opposed to the free-flowing off the leash energetic performance we delivered last night and it blew them away. Game plan gone after 5 minutes. If we played like that for the last 10 games, no team would have looked good and we'd be romping the league.
  13. Now that I've calmed down and sobered up after that long overdue outstanding performance I'm wondering whether that was an Evatt tactical change or just a tweak? Coleman was involved in the passing around at the back far less than in recent games - probably a tweak just to minimise the chance of errors, but tactical inasmuch that teams have learnt our old routine off by heart. Dribbling - haven't seen so much close control skill to beat a man for ages - especially Paris, JDB and Collins - they were obviously given permission to use their talents to the full in advanced areas and it paralysed Oxford when we broke through their lines time and time again. Tactical change for me. "Concertina" passing from the back. A real mix of playing it wide or through the middle, plus the occasional long ball for good measure. Everything Oxford had planned for went out the window. Definitely tactical. JDB/Collins partnership. Enforced I know, but I was massively impressed by their workrate (especially JDB at his age) which matched the workrate we'd expect from Dion and Vic. However they held it up better than Dion and Vic so on last night's performance I actually think we've stumbled across a better front two. Technically a tweak but it was the only sensible option. Free role given to all the midfielders. They were all over the place in a good way, swapping sides, switching passes inside and out - must have confused the shit out of Oxford compared to the more rigid positioning we've had over recent games. Tactical. Overall it seems like Evatt has dropped some of the "processes" rather than added new ones - basically "let them off the leash" and backed their ability. And it was a fucking joy to watch. I've bitched about teams having worked us out and planned accordingly for weeks now, but last night's performance has opened a right can of worms for them going forward as long as we stick with it. Hope we haven't showed our hand too early for Derby - and exhausted the players so they can't reproduce that outstanding workrate again on Saturday - but last night was the shot in the arm we needed - and were probably owed - but whatever happens, the excitement is back.
  14. George was great. He may have a rep for getting booked, but he is also one of the most fouled players in the league - and that's because of his relentless ratting about in the middle which is just what we need. Would have been up there however he tried a couple of those looping first time passes - which can be brilliant - that he didn't connect with properly last night and made him look daft. Superb performance otherwise.
  15. Non stop running from the two strikers - exactly what you'd expect from Dion and Vic - except that their hold up play was better IMO. They looked good as a strike partnership but perhaps they were helped with everyone else's performances. Great to see us keeping the pressure on for the whole game and not put pressure on ourselves with daft mistakes at the back. Same again on Saturday please.
  16. ...and some energy. Should just play walking football at the back at 5 nil.
  17. For the first time in ages, they've kept up the intensity after HT. Loving the effort, loving the workrate, loving the commitment.
  18. Yesssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss
  19. Can't you wait until FT before you fat one up? It's just that we tend to play like we've had a HT blunt in most games and for once I'd like the lads to be on it from the kick off.
  20. Well we've been begging for an upturn in form and that half was exactly what we needed. Could do with the next goal to ease the worries, but we have to negotiate that tricky period after half time when we tend to play sloppy and concede far too often. I'll be fuming if the lads are not totally focussed and putting in the same amount of effort as they did in the first half. They should be treating it like the score is 0 - 0.
  21. Not happy with this dribbling and nutmeg showboating. Focus on winning, that's all. ....and getting the next goal.
