  1. Ok it’s going to be a tough ask but there’s every chance that Derby can slip up at Cambridge just as we did against Salop on Tuesday, they will still be under pressure because they need to win to keep that gap between us, so we have to keep believing and do what we failed to do on Tuesday plus with a few goals. The Vale fans are expecting to get mullered so let’s not disappoint them. A good win for us and a Derby loss still leaves us with a real good chance of avoiding the play offs so let’s all get behind the boys until our chances of automatic are nil.
  2. No we certainly don’t Big E and I frankly can’t understand why IE signed him. If you look at his Burton goals, all but 3 were in and around the 6 yard box and that’s also true of most of Vics for us. He just isn’t an “Evatt” player who runs about chasing down defenders but get him into the danger area and I’m sure we’d see a completely different Victor. If I were Vic I’d be looking for a club that suits my style better because he’s always going to struggle here since IE won’t be changing his methods.
  3. To be fair to Bod in two critical games at Pompey and Derby away he was only denied game changing goals by incredible point blank saves the one at Derby leading to Dions miss and at Derby arguably Wildsmiths save of the season.
  4. He’s on a 5 year contract isn’t he and why would the owner sack him if he’s achieved their aim? Derby isn’t Rotherham, they’re not going to sell their best players under him like Rotherham always did and then not replace them. I believe their embargo also ends so they’re free to do what they like and a big part of that will be ensuring they stay up. I don’t see Warne being sacked at all and expect him to really surprise people.
  5. Yes I was surprised how poor Forrester was tonight, he has nowhere near the forward capability Gethin has and JDC looks half the player without it but he was just dreadful and Iredale not much better.
  6. Yep I’m afraid when the going gets tough we just go.
  7. Play offs it is then so at least we can concentrate on that but that was hard watching, some absolutely dreadful stuff. We just have no composure in our play and set pieces and throw ins are just abysmal. Very disappointing but we didn’t deserve anything more tonight.
  8. If there’s a worse team than us for corners and set pieces if yet to see them were absolute bobbins.
  9. No excuses we’ve been shite all over the pitch tonight, going sideways now.
  10. Trouble is who do you change they’re all terrible?
  11. Why can’t we put set pieces in like that?
  12. Crazy but why do we do a lot of things. On a plate that was.
  13. Fair play to Shrewsbury though they’ve been far better than us and unlike us look right up for it. How have they scored so few goals this season we’re lucky we’re only one behind. We shouldn’t panic but just accept we can’t walk through them and start putting in some shots from distance.
  14. This is just us unfortunately, casual, awful passing and woeful defending. Need to wake up here.
  15. How many chances did Ogbeta have to pass that ball before being robbed. We just try to walk it in all the time instead of shooting. We’ll still win this but we do make things difficult for ourselves.
  16. You’re right Rizlar they’ve been very consistent. Consistently fortunate with penalty decisions and crucial late, late goals. Even on Saturday with Dion hitting the post and a stonewall last few minutes handball seen by everybody but the officials. You don’t win anything without a bit of luck but I’d say they’ve had more than their fair share.
  17. Let’s just get tonight out of the way first, we need to see off the Shrews before we can even think about Saturday. Even if we do win tonight Derby must still be favourites to win both of their games so it’s going to be a tough ask whatever we do. I fear that we blew the autos on Saturday when Dion hit the post and the officials missed a stonewall pen at the death. Luck does play a part whatever anyone says and other than bad we haven’t had much this season. ☹️
  18. No question both George and Eoin are now having more influence within the team, George in particular regularly now seen directing where players and passes should be. As said earlier Rico is definitely a calming influence but also the dictator of tempo and when he moves the ball quicker the team just works better. You don’t have to wear an armband to be captain and it’s pleasing to see the players feel that way too.
  19. Even assuming Derby slip up at Cambridge there’s still a 5 goal deficit to make up so we need as many goals as possible on Tuesday, absolutely no sitting back until the final whistle. To be fair if we can’t put these away by at least 3 goals we don’t deserve an automatic place.
  20. Goals win games though and sadly we don’t have them when it matters. Couldn’t have played any better today but again spurned gilt edged chances and when are we ever going to learn how to threaten from corners?
  21. Should have won that only ourselves to blame chances missed yet again. You can see why Pompey don’t lose many though they do seem to have really had all the luck this season.
  22. Sorry Steejay, must be nerves?? 🤪
  23. If we win tomorrow I see the game at Posh being a dead rubber with them saving players for the play offs because I expect them to slip up between now and then. We just have to make sure we don’t.
  24. Neither would I but wouldn’t it be Taylor replacing Rico rather than moving Toal? Either way I’d be ok with that but if Toal is moved and Gethin’s fit wouldn’t he come back in?
