  1. what about it we only secure runners up spot?
  2. I did it, I got 5. I've given up now
  3. All the farms round here do that for their veg and eggs
  4. I can't say too much about the system, but you may not be a million miles away from it there with regards to nutrient rich water recycling - the place has it's own little eco-system. Specific wavelength lighting at specific times of the day/year, controlled humidity etc. To be fair, the bloke I spoke to said something along the lines of "If we ate these things when we're supposed to, there would be no need for all this, people just now expect to get fresh fruit all year round, instead of when nature actually wants to produce it" - there's certainly something in that
  5. Yep, loads of them out there at the minute on Beta testing, as you'd expect, at secret locations - I went to one such location, in a Vineyard, and have seen them at work. Apparently another 3 or 4 years of testing still to go. The more advanced ones, also know the incoming weather, and can scuttle away to safety before getting caught in anything heavy. Impressive stuff, but ultimately based on the same sort of tech as these robot vacuum cleaners that many folk have these days
  6. I'm not sure anybody has said that, or anything like it Your Australian Strawberries may be shit, and I know this will massively disappoint you, but the local ones grown on the farm near me are lovely, and have been both during and after our membership of the EU
  7. Indeed, it'll get worse and worse as well, of that there is little doubt. As an Island though, it should be a bit easier for us to stop folk coming.....at some point (fortunately long after I'm gone) we're going to need more immigration
  8. I'm working with a company in Agritech at the minute, with regards to growing strawbs, it's fucking massive business. Anyway, I'm working on helping them with the required lighting conditions - it's complex as fuckery, but hopefully will be worth a few quid. The place I've visited (which is apparently "secret" but you can see it from miles away, so it's can't be that secret) grows them vertically, hence they need artificial light - these things must be 30m to 40m tall. The enviroment is carefully controlled, so zero pesticides are required (allegedly) If what they're wanting to design comes off, and fingers crossed it will, then it'll be great for UK Farming export Industry, apparently - which is nice to know as you don't hear "British Agriculture" and "Success" mentioned together very often at all these days. They can also reduce the workforce from several dozen to just 2 or 3 people to run a site, as it's all done robotically, so it's a real win/win for the industry, as they generally can't get staff these days to pick the fruit. Here endeth todays news about the Strawberry Industry in the UK
  9. what about a good old fashioned trifle? 😉
  10. @L/H Whiteis your man for such things. Anyway, Matt Fitzpatrick @ 22/1 with Skybet, paying 12 places
  11. So what if him or his family gets dead- that's his problem, not ours. Once he's served his time, then deport him. I'm not sure why anybody would want anything different.
  12. they already are in Likkle Lever
  13. I'm glad he has found God, as he clearly wasn't very nice a few years ago Danny Tommo – real name Daniel Thomas was exposed in 2016 as a convicted (albeit bungled) kidnapper. He was jailed for two years for his part in the crime.
  14. I like his Bio though Good to see he's a good old fashioned God fearing Christian
  15. So to prove I love my country, I have to take a Tuesday off work to go and hang around in London with people like him?
  16. Hope all goes well today
  17. it didn't blow your egg barm away did it?
  18. As stated plenty of times, the old town is nice for eating and drinking, the "new" town is a fucking grim hole - the other week was the first time I've had a drink in Stevenage (apart from the old town) for about 15 years. It'll be at least another 15 years before I venture there again I reckon
  19. I know, he was telling me he's struggling to get rid of it, he's got so much. He's promised me one of his home made crumbles, he's a good lad is @tomski
  20. to be fair, I'd never heard it, until you pointed it out, and now it's almost deafening, it's all I can hear 😁
  21. I can only assume you're not on DAB, as the wheezing is just too much in clear digital
  22. @tomskiwas telling me he prefers to make his own, rather than shop bought. He said something about putting a touch of cinnamon or nutmeg in it as well, I think. He's always been a bit of a maverick like that.
  23. Damsel with Millie Bobby Brown and Ray Winstone Total biz 3/10
  24. They'll be happy enough with just the extra 2 points deduction I reckon, they'll survive as usual, as those below them are utter dogshit, and won't just get enough points, sadly.
