Water Shortage

Recommended Posts

Cos its not rained for a week it seems that United Utilities are going inti to panic mode firstly by taking water from the lake district and then a hosepipe ban.

Where did all the rain and snow that we had in the winter go?

Im off to stock pile water by filling buckets and the bath

Driest first 6 months of the year since 1929.

My eucalyptyus tree is shedding leaves like a mo'fo - first time I remember it doing that.

Reservoirs can only hold so much water so i guess it went over the overspill and off down the river out to sea.

Winter was pretty dry. Snow means bugger all. 6 inches of snow is equal to 1 inch of rain.

Fill up a load of buckets at home, drive to the nearest reservoir, pour them in.

Problem solved

Aye, but our water comes from the lakes, so it;s a bit of a drive.

Rivington feeds the scousers, which is why you should defacate in it when passing

The problem is that United Utilities have spent bugger all on reservoir maintenance and clearing out the silt, hence less capacity.

United utilities have 2 budgets, a "Q" budget which stands for quality works. They get recompensed from OFWAT if they spend money on this.

The second budget is an "X" budget, which stands for maintenance works. They are expected to pay for this themselves.

Guess which one they spend more on seeing as they are a private company that makes ?600 million profit.

They should be put back under public control.

Funny thing the British weather. The two reservoirs nearest to me are Blagdon and Chew Valley and that there map shows them as normal and notably low yet they're only 5 miles apart.
