Soul Boys of the Western World - all about Spandau Ballet. I watched half of it years ago on a flight. Watched it all again tonight on Amazon. Decent enough. And I’m no fan of theirs.

There's a good documentary about the Sheffield Scene of the late 70s/early 80s called Made In Sheffield. It stars The Human League, Heaven 17 and ABC as well as lesser known bands such as Carbaret Voltaire and I'm So Hollow.

There were a couple of compilation LPs from the 80s with some of the best tracks from that period on called Bouquet Of Steel and Hicks From The Sticks.

That Tommy M bloke was defo a blare, .... easily the worst one out of the Rocky Franchise

Aaidriaaaaaaan!

He was a half decent boxer in real life, but on the scene the same time as Mike Tyson, Evander Holyfield, Lennox Lewis and I think the resurgent George Foreman.

I would say it was THE worst of the Rocky films, I even prefer Rocky Balboa and the Creed films to it.

Will get it on catch-up, Sheffield is good for bands, they've done ok historically.

True, maybe not as well as London, Manchester, Liverpool or Birmingham but pretty good.

One of the best documentaries I've got in my DVD collection is hard to find in its original form. It's called D. O. A. and mainly follows the Sex Pistols tour of the southern U. S. in January 1978 but also gives a brief overview of the UK punk scene too.

Now that is funny, I'm now listening to NMTB on vinyl 😁

I have watched a couple of the Pistols docs on AMAZON over the last couple of weeks, theres a out 4 different ones, yet to watch them all. Watched the Joy Division one earlier.

Four Sex Pistols documentaries!!!, think I've only seen The Filth And The Fury myself. Swindle was the "Gospel according to Malcolm McLaren" so doesn't really count.

Have a couple of docs on punk in general The Punk Rock Movie and Punk In London I think by Don Letts(?)

Bollocks always has been and always will be a classic album, still sounds as good as it did nearly 45 years ago. Boy saying that made me feel old!!!

It's a brilliant album, every song on it, that's what defines an album, you play it without skipping a track 👌

Trying to think of albums that you can do that with, come up with Electric Warrior, Bat Out Of Hell, Dark Side Of The Moon, Appetite For Destruction, Breaking Glass, Night At The Opera and Led Zep IV so far.

Can think of a few compilations too, but they're as rare as rocking horse poo.

Forgot The Winker's Album (Misprint)

its too much like karate kid 3  (both john avidsen , i think) where the kid falls out with his mentor , think it were released just after too , so when KK3 flopped, the same plot about a year later were gonna have a bad time..

relic / mimic is the all time 'same film , released close to one another , with kinda the same plot' films

but theyre both good.

maybe 'deep impact' and 'amegeddon' -but i didnt like armegeddon, and deep impact is too 'soft' imo

and about 7 film based on underwater submarines in 1989

abyss, deepstar six, leviathan , etc

"Deep Star Six (1989) was the first release of several underwater-monster-themed feature films released during 1989-90, including The Abyss (1989), Leviathan (1989), The Evil Below (1989), and Lords of the Deep (1989), and 'The Rift' (aka 'Endless Descent', 1990). With the exception of 'The Abyss', none of these films were box office hits."

happens a lot, but "mimic" / "relic" takes some beating.

What network is that on bud please ?

I saw Midnight Sky on Netflix. Seemed to have a lot going for it. So i got settled to watch it. I nearly turned it off. Only kept with it because I thought it might speed up, which it didn't. It didn't half drag. Couldn't see what all the fuss was about

NOW he is our great white hope, and that is the madness.

You look at AJ or Fury and it's about the best boxer.... perhaps AJ is the great BLACK hope 🤔

It was used as a term against Jack Johnson, for anyone white man who would beat him as he pissed off the racists and had the gall to date white women.

I know nothing about boxing but I do know the Broadway show of the same name was about this and stared Darth Vader, or James Earl Jones - also the great white hope Gentleman Jim is referenced in Hurricane by Dylan.

SAINT MAUD

Follows a pious nurse who becomes dangerously obsessed with saving the soul of her dying patient.

Highly recommended 👍

Closest I've got to that was watching a 70s sexploitation film yesterday called Evil Come, Evil Go about a 'Sister' who murders people committing the sin of fornication. Features a blink and you'll miss it cameo by porn legend John Holmes.
