I was on the Burnden Paddock that night, all sorts flying about.... Something hit me in the balls & as I bent over in pain I got hit on the head with a coin 😁, just glad I didn't cop for a dart!

It was SM tickling your balls, you wrong un :D

Aye me too. Was taken to most home games in 77/78 but not that one. A Tuesday night match - dear old Gary Jones got very few goals that season but our consolation that night was his. I'm sure I've seen highlights of that game somewhere. Jimmy Armfield would have been the Leeds boss I guess?

78/9 I just remember bricks raining back and forth like confetti between the Paddock and the Embankment. Typical Leeds - absolute wreckers and vandals.

79/80.....The Dwarf Dust Up.....McNab sparking Brian Flynn.

Remember that game quite well - pretty sure it was played in rain. Was sitting in the Manny Road North not far from the gathered "regulars". A clutch of Millwall's firm were directly across the pitch - stood right up against the fence between the Embankment and the Burnden Paddock - and the focus of the Manny Roaders was on them throughout. I remember one chant used frequently: "We thought you were soft ...and we were right" ... to the tune used these days for "We are the one and only Wanderers"

We won 2-0. I remember Tony Caldwell getting both goals .... but the book tells me it was on December 15 and it was John McGovern's last win at Bolton before getting the sack on January 7!

I remember the rain and they had a right dirty bloke up front, throwing his elbows into any aerial challenge. John Fashanu - no idea what happened to him like

Here's Halifax 1 Bolton 1 from the 1986/7 FA Cup First Round in November 1986. It's the first in a trilogy of games, with Bolton eventually winning through. Essentially we made a bit of a meal of seeing off a side a division below us. For younger viewers - there was no penalties at the end of a replay back in the day, ties just kept being replayed until there was an outcome!

Halifax have Phil Brown in their ranks two years before he signed for us -  and a lad called Rick Holden who went on to make his name with Oldham during their top flight glory days of the early 1990s. Their goal was scored by a young lad called David Longhurst who four years later sadly died on the pitch after suffering a heart attack while playing for York City against Lincoln.

Bolton's goal and the subsequent pitch invasion are already on You Tube. Hope you enjoy the rest of the game (despite the fact that the commentary seems to lag a few seconds behind the pictures)

A free header in the 6 yard box from a corner - that is some rank awful defending from Bolton for the goal.

All the top Bolton fans went to Halifax 4 times in two seasons - the league match in Div 4 being called off not long before kick off.

I thought that about the goal!

The Div 4 game that went ahead was in January. A 0-0 after which there was much upset among the fans about Phil Neal's negativity!

The police couldn't do it now but they turned us around when we got off the train at Halifax. Match off lads, piss off out of our town. We did but got off at the next stop (Sowerby Bridge). Stayed all day and got wankered.

I'm sure the fair folk of Sowerby Bridge raked it in that day!

As a group we contributed to the local economy. But to this day we had the worst fish & chips ever to be dished out.

On such earnest advice are decisions made not to touch Sowerby Bridge with a barge pole.

Reminds me of our coaches police escort out of Wales, coming away from Swansea (when we thought we were up and then discovered otherwise).

Really funny to see loads of coaches turning around as soon as the police escort had gone! 😂😂
