Within about 15 seconds of his debut he'd set up a goal for Tony Caldwell - the first in a 4-0 Division 3 win over Newport in February 1986 (1985/6 season). Caldwell scored the second and George Oghani the third - all inside 27 minutes. Then in the second half Ripley himself slammed home a fourth. This is still all in Phil Neal's early days at the club. Nice to see the Manny Road celebrating goals! I have to apologise for the sound quality. There's no commentary on this video and that really makes that sound situation stand out. I'll have to work out if I can cure it somehow. Looks like George Courtney reffing.

We lost 2-1. Meant they doubled us having not played us since the 60s. I think it was straight after the Newport game

That's him. Had it in him to be a better player and could be classy. Just lacked application. Gave Bolton a season or two of good Div 3 goalscoring all the same Edited April 25, 2019 by paulhanley

The commentary while enjoyable , especially if Dave Higson is on the Mic , does come second to the actual footage for me anyway.can't wait for the next one , time permitting. on a side note , did anybody notice the motorbility car of the day parked in front of the Manny road stand. That Bury game was a freezing cold. Tuesday night and Dave Higson spends a lot of his commentary muttering about it being 'cowd'. That was another last minute goal conceded! The little sky blue cars! Did they actually sit in the car to watch the game? It'll probably be next week before I post again but there's a lot still to come. Dave Higson saying “there’s trouble in the Wigan end..it should be made all ticket......ooh, it is all ticket” No guesses who got a big job lot of tickets for our lot due to doing the roof on the NatWest roof in Wigan ... I'd said I wasn't going to post defeats but as Miami asked for this one - here it is, Barnsley 3 Bolton 1 in the 87/88 FA Cup, Div 2 v Div 4. Quality isn't great.... quality on the original tape isn't great either! There's clearly trouble after Barnsley's second - Dave Higson references it and you very briefly see the police and the dogs lining up outside the away end. I have to say Dave's commentary is particularly funny - the lead up to every Barnsley goal involves him tempting fate by eulogising about Bolton. And before the third he's busy talking about Jim Bowen and Bullseye. Anyway - here goes. What a ding dong do.

Memory's a bit hazzy but it either got ransacked, or it shut shop early because it was going to get ransacked. Happy days. Dave spends the first five minutes of the game talking about how well behaved the Bolton fans had been (along with mention of how when Bolton had last visited Peter Reid broke his leg - presumably 1982). The good behaviour did not last! 🙂
Duck Egg
Oh dear. I last saw footage of that game from the dock in Barnsley magistrates court! I heard their 3rd go in as about 20 of us Wanderers fans were handcuffed inside a Police van behind that embankment. Great header from Stevens that for our goal

Great header from Stevens that for our goal I was sat with their chairman, John Dennis, in the main stand - we were both fruit & veg wholesalers. He was going mad about all the trouble saying how disgusting it was while I was shouting 'Go on lads, get in there! 🤣
