Youri McAnespie
It's fucking cowd and no chance whatsoever of the heating going back on, not in this lifetime (or late-ish October - whichever comes sooner). I'm thinking of donning woolly gloves, in the house.

Youri McAnespie
Hovering around 7c according to my garden window thermometer... It's the 4th of May ffs, and it's raining - why's it so (relatively) cold? Get some more tyre fires going, get Rivi ablaze, smash some more old fridges up and crack some chippy trays...
jmjhb
Basically it's because the Atlantic jetstream is right over us at the moment so we are getting all the fronts and low-pressure weather systems, and there's no 'barrier' to that polar wind. In a normal summer the jetstream usually ends up somewhere between Scotland and the Faroes. Edited May 4, 2021 by jmjhb
Youri McAnespie
Makes sense, I think we forget our latitude... Comparable to Newfoundland or sommat. Without it we'd be fucked. Still not putting the heating on though. I might have to buy milk for the first time in ages too, the bottle I took out to thaw isn't. Youri McAnespie
Oceans unsurprisingly drive our weather systems and we're fucking about with them... It's a potential 'Day After Tomorrow' scenario here. Gonzo, get down to the front with a canister of Saxa and get topping the salinity back up...
Youri McAnespie
They could pump the Dead Sea into the erm...sea. That might help a bit. I'll forward that suggestion to Greta, or her real dad, Stephen Merchant. Edited May 4, 2021 by Youri McAnespie

Connery was ok, Dalton massively under rated and Brosnan suffered from poor scripts. Craig is excellent. Youri McAnespie
I gave the heads up for Moonraker yesterday an' all... You could've seen Moore as 007, having a leisurely gondola about Venice, on his tod, survive a throwing knife assassination from a bloke who popped out of a coffin on a hearse gondola... He then escaped as suddenly his gondola turned into a speedboat gondola. He ran into a dead end though, or was it? The gondola morphs into a hovercraft and it climbs out of the canal, leaving behind the baddies in speedboats. He then hovers it through St Mark's Square, which causes such amazement a waiter pouring wine into a glass continues to pour it over the customer and both a collie dog and a pigeon do a double-take. You don't get that in any Daniel Craig rubbish. Edited May 4, 2021 by Youri McAnespie
Not in Crawley
Seen two Bond films, Casino Royale and one where Brosnan had an invisable car in an ice hotel I think. Seen bits of the others but was never a massive fan - always depressed me as they remind me of wet bank holiday monday's unsurprisingly. Youri McAnespie
I feel like Nick Frost's character in Hot Fuzz... You've both never seen a Moore Bond? (to be said in exasperated Alan voice).

Youri McAnespie
The Living Daylights was the taff (A-Ha)... A View to a Kill (Duran Duran) was Roger Moore's last one, with Grace Jones. I can imagine she's an acquired taste as a person. And Jaws was in two, The Spy Who Loved Me and Moonraker. I think it was infant playground legend that 'Jaws' was a real bloke, the strongest man in the world and the steel teeth were a real permanent feature - probably after a Christmas telly premier of his later film. I think I was a bit disappointed as an older kid seeing him in Pale Rider with Clint Eastwood and his god-given gnashers. The only ones really on telly with regularity in my childhood were the Moore ones, the ones with the jock milkman were a real disappointment. The next James Bond? Phil Middlemiss aka Street lothario bookie Des Barnes. 18/1 - printing money.

Site Supporter Tonge moor green jacket Posted May 10, 2021 Site Supporter Share Posted May 10, 2021 Heard a rumble and wondered if it was a plane, or an explosion (or both) in the distance. Then incredible rain, and a long rumble of thunder which confirmed what the first one was. Might get some more yet.
