Air pressure busting your ears. Apparently next week a hurricane in America is going to drift over the Atlantic and push the jet stream up, allowing some good stuff to hit us from the south. She was born in what used to be known as "lightning alley" - the area going north out of Leeds up towards Scarborough- the flatlands where the A1(M) is. Storms tracking west across the Pennines would veer north and then head out to sea over Scarborough. To be fair it's very rare we are stopped completely, even in the worst of storms. There's always something we can fall back on.
