Sensible is one thing

Reaping dividends is entirely another

If we're relegated as a result of not spending another couple of million in January or investing in different players, then how could you say so??

I'm not saying if we go down it certainly is, but at the moment I'd say his transfer record this season is debatable until the end of the season

If we do stay up and next season have a young, quality filled squad with a better wage bill; then of course he has.....

You can't judge right now surely

We're spending what we bring in. We're reducing the wage bill. We're focusing on the youth set-up. Which part of that doesn't sound sensible to you then?

Can't argue with any of that.

But I was more looking at our league position and wondering if it had been affected by buying players then not playing them or buying players who can not consistently perform at the level required in the Barclays premier league. As I say can't argue the points you made, but the current squad is worse than what he inherited albeit younger and cheaper.

Disagree.I think if everyone was fit our team is better now than when Gary Megson was sacked despite the one now being cheaper.

The midfield was terrible then. Petrov,Holden,Reo-Coker,Lee is better than most in the Premier League. All of them cheap signings.

If all that means we end up in the Championship, then woopefuckindoo, I know what 99.9% of supporters would want.

Renegotiating deals with K Davies and JJ will probably see the last of the high earners from the previous era eradicated. So well done...but at what price?

The world of planet Coyle works in mysterious ways and I'm sure he believes his own bullshit,

Are you basing that purely on paper? well either way i disagree.

So havin a transfer policy to make us financially better off could make us worse off

Not if the alternative is spending the majority of our turnover on transfer fees and player wages and then writing it off when players walk away for nothing at the end of their contracts. Either that or having to offer them even more money to persuade them to stay.

Taylor was better for us than Petrov, Muamba is better than Reo Coker and Megson signed chungy. Mark Davies has been our most creative this season and you havent included him who was also signed by Megson.

Apart from that i agree.

i disagree that its better than most

its better than at least 6 tho

and thats where we are aiming

even without holden its good enough

the problem is our manager hasn't shown many signs of knowing how to use them

Thats like saying if my aunty had testicles she'd be my uncle. Holden and lee are injured, and it was forecast that they'd be out for the majority of the season before the August transfer window closed and yet we chose not to bring in replacements that were capable of performing at the level required in the Barclays premier league. So I think we need to decide if eagles, reo Coker, pratley and petrov are better than most in the premiership.

For me that midfield combination are in the bottom third of teams in the league, unsurprisingly our league position reflects that. What compounds the issue is that it was obvious, to most, that at the half way point of the season our midfield was too powder puff yet we chose to go with what we have and didn't bring anyone in in January.

Not sure I agree. We've been very unlucky with losing Holden and Chungy for an entire season. There's no way we could afford to replace them with the same quality.

We then lost Muamba in horrific circumstances which has hit us really hard.

Had what haoppened at WHL not happened then whilst our team wouldn't be "better than most" it was certainly good enough to stay up. It still should be.

Daz we could afford to spend 3 million on a striker that hasn't yet featured. I'd of preferred him to use that on a midfielder after all he bought a good young striker last summer.

Completely agree with your last bit re our midfield being better with muamba in it, but if you look back over the course of the season I'm not sure our leader agrees as he hasn't played him as often as he should of.

Must admit, the Sordell signing is a bit lot of a puzzler. Truth is we've no idea how good/bad he is as he's not been given a chance. Both games over the weekend were games I'd have given him a run out for at least 15-20 mins.

In his defence though, if Coyle had spent, say ?3m on a midfielder and Muamba hadn't collapsed then he too could well be sat on the bench and folk would be moaning that he hadn't bought a striker.

How many good signings has coyle made?

Holden? is that it?

Plenty of bad uns and a lucky miss not signing Vela from Arsenal and ending up with Sturridge.

Doesn't that mean you think Sturridge was a good signing?

And you don't rate Petrov, Wilshire, Ream , Wheater or Reo-Coker?

Who's to say Elmander wouldn't have carried on scoring had he not been shufted into midfield to accommodate Davies and Sturridge?

Only Owens mate upstairs can answer that Frank.

But from an outsider looking in it appears to me that elmander stopped scoring when he had sorted out his next contract, but we will never know

The idea that Elmander chose to start scoring because his contract was up, and then stop because he'd been given a new one in Turkey, is ridiculous. If he could do that, why not decide to score every week and sign for Barcelona?

We bought Lee and Holden for less than we paid for Sordell. I'm not saying it's easy to find good players cheap, but surely you have to do better than chucking it on a new 4th/5th choice striker. The money signings in general (Wheater, Eagles, Mears, N'Gog, Sordell, Alonso) have ranged from outright shite to just about mediocre.

And Muamba was out of the team and had just been bollocked for his tweeting. He's probably been able to contribute more from his hospital bed than he would've done sat on the bench.
