I honestly do feel for him.

Lovely fella...just not a very good manager.

His reign couldnt possibly of gone any worse, for it being injuries, bad managment the lot.

Good luck Owen...wherever you end up,you just wernt the man for this job.

All the best I say.

that sums up my thoughts, feel very different to when meggo went even though both decisions are right.

Correct. I don't want to see anyone lose their job, but we couldn't carry on like this.

I feel for him too, but it's definitely the right decision. Good Luck OC

He was asked yesterday to bring Sammy Lee in alongside him, he refused as it undermines him so the only other option was this.

Typical stubborn bastard, right to the end. Given the option of extending his tenure but doesn't take it.

Definitely feel gutted for him.

i know the majority wanted him out and you might be right but even though we were losing I thought he was at least trying to play the right way.

The games were entertaining, better than the boring shite we`ve watched in recent history.

Be careful what you wish for people. It`s a sad day really regardless of your opinion.

Taken from the oatcake forum...

So they swapped Gray Megson because the football was dour. They employed Owen Coyle who stylishly achieved relegation within two years. Now they are going to get Mick McCarthy in who is perhaps more in the mould of Megson than Coyle ...I'm not surprised they're called the Wanderers, they have no idea which direction they want to go in.

this made me chuckle and shows how single minded and stubborn coyle was:

http://www.zonalmarking.net/2011/05/24/bolton-owen-coyle-style-of-football/

they ask

"Have Bolton played ‘attractive football’ under Owen Coyle this season?"

then wheel out stats to suggest not

to which he replies in an interview:

Sadness yes on a human level for a decent bloke who must be hurting badly now - sympathy absolutely zero he has more than enough opportunity to show what he could do at a higher level and during testing times and he failed very miserably. I don't particularly wish him well either because he could well end up at a club we're in opposition with and any future success may be to the detriment of our own club by perhaps highlighting we were wrong to get rid - he's history now that's all, he's not dead he just did his job on the whole very poorly

Gutted it didnt work for Owen, but it needed to be done. Onwards an upwards now.

Jimmy Phillips and Sammy Lee, Jimmy!........ And Sammy!

Based on the bookies lists I think I'm firmly in the hope Jimmy Phillips gets it camp

Which other candidate has 9 "O" levels?

Jimmy's nobody's fool and was an excellent reserve team manager.

A bit of a jump up I know, but I would like to see him given a chance.

'There for everyone to see'.

Fuck me, I'll not miss hearing that.

I'll especially not miss hearing that and thinking, "I don't see it, Owen".
