A young policeman asked my dad who he was supporting to which my dad replied " I was born and lived in Bolton for 25 years and I've lived in Bury for 25 years...where do you want me to stand the fucking half way line!!". Wanderers took a massive following which there seemed no segregation, there were wanderers fans in every section of the ground. We lost 4-3 that day and was the first time I was involved in footy agro. As a young lad I was an easy target and took a few wild thumps. First one on my own, Preston on a special from Bolton, must have been early 80's as I was still at school.
