A welsh bloke called Tim was showing me his new work boots in the Squirrel one teatime.

He said "they're bloody belters these, will last you a lifetime....these a my 3rd pair already"

Haha

Trigger's brush...

This brings to mind another thing...

We in t'north are a resourceful lot, appropriating specialist wear; workwear, yachting gear, golf clothes, motorbike stuff, fishing, tennis, hiking gear etc. and wearing it for everyday use, the problem is the manufacturers twig this is happening and start producing shit 'fashion' items...

When this happens the main reason it was appropriated in the first place, it's durability, gets sidelined - thus they become shit.

I bought a pair of Caterpillar boots around 1993, Made in America and meant for work, these days they may look fucked but they're still just about wearable...

A pair bought today would probably last a year.

Peter Storm, Burberry, Berghaus, Belstaff, Henri Lloyd, Helly Hansen, Fred Perry...the list could go on, you name it, once it starts being produced for 'fashion' purposes it goes turd quality-wise.

adidas is no longer the brand it once was, they can bring out all the 'colorways' and re-issues they like, when a pair of Nizza lasted me less than six months (being rotated too, not constant wear) - that's when I was finished with them as a brand.

Now and again adidas will bring some trainers out that are durable, well made and with decent materials - often consortium or 1/500 stuff though. I've a pair of them special edition Mita Tobaccos that look like theyll last a long time, with sensible wear.

But like you say, look at the general release stuff its often falling apart before its even off the shelf. Lost count of the number of times Ive seen something in Size, picked it up thinking it looked okay then realised you can see lines of dried glue seeping out from the toebox, or mis-shapen soles. Disgrace really

Carhartt is another brand thats gone shit for fashion. Used to wear their black pants when I worked in retail warehouses lugging boxes and pallets around lasted me yonks.

Bought a pair for wearing in the office and the lasted less than six months till the stitching came appart.

I had a top by them in my 'workclothes' hamper for ages, must've been from, well, I wore it in Cardiff for the playoff final, anyway it got relegated to workwear, but was still structurally sound until it finally gave up the ghost this year...

One bought today would probably be in tatters by Christmas.

Im just after Topangas. Was going to try for a t-shirt or two as well but going to have to save a bit and see how these Stockholm and Rouge reissues look in the next week or so

Theyre going reissue mad at moment, and we're lapping it up!

Woah Woah Woah, Stockholm reissue? When?

No pictures as yet of the Sotckholm reissue which is strange seen as theres a couple of Rouge ones and there were Bern before its release (what the hell is going on with them btw, look like mid-tops at the ankle!) but not a thing so far about Stockholm.

Was quite impressed by the latest Rouge picture I saw Traf, definitely one to be having a look at when theyre out

After queueing 3 hours, missed out on Touring by a midges dick, but bought some Topanga that I didn't fancy at first.

Some serious trainers on display in the queue.

of all the people I know, I would have thought you would be the least likely of any of them to queue for 3 hours for a pair of pumps
