There's a bit in the free  paper that Everton might be spending £500 million on a new ground if they can get the planning permission. What struck me is the small 52,888 capacity. Even if was full every match they'd only have the 7th highest average gate in the PL going off 2018/19 stats.I remember back in the 1980s they were genuinely one of the big 5. the PL era hasn't been kind to Everton

I thought they'd already begun tbh. But everything, finally, looking sorted. They blooming need it, Goodison's a toilet.

I'd not fancy going there with docks water around it. Not without my trunks anyway. Not the gentlest of fans.

Goodison's current capacity it 39,500 so it's a boost on that but yes, I take your point. I always thought they were sort of self-appointed as one of the 'big five'.

The size of the area has limited the initial capacity. Going too big straight from the off was risking refusal of planning permision, based on all the environmental bodies that have all stuck their noses in.

Its not the capacity that will pull in the money, its advertisng and sponsship it will bring, central location, iconic water-front positioning etc, and central to the whole re-gen of that area, connecting it to the city centre and albert dock area.

The ground will be pretty much paid for by naming rights and other sponsorships....probably all linked to Usmanov in some way.

That's 52k where the majority of them will be scousers or descendants of scousers - not daytrippers from Dundalk, Dublin, Dalton, Dagenham or Daegu.

Even if the filth fill the theatre of shite every match they'd still be behind AC Milan, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, Inter and Real Madrid...

The recent years of European dominance of Real Madrid and Liverpool et al haven't been kind...

On the bright side their united nations of support ensure Eccles remains unmolested every other week.

Be gutting to see goodison go. Another nail in the coffin of football.

Not many grounds like it left :(

I agree. It's showing its age but i always enjoyed the edge of going there. A move to another sterile new stadium won't be the same

They can’t fill Goodson so no chance of filling nearly 53,000 seats.

Once they realise that they aren’t a big club they will move forward.

They'll get the new-stadium new-attending fans boost.  Look at City, Spurs and Arsenal S/T sales compared to their old grounds.  Everton will sell 53k no problem, especially as there should be room for more away fans than Goodison.

Spurs and Arsenal had huge waiting lists for season tickets to be fair. Doubt they’ll be allocating more to away fans than the 3,000 they already get at Goodson.

Everton have the a waiting list too, and we have a massively high % of season tickets.

think its 32k season ticket holder, add in the 3k away tickets...only leaves around 4k for “general” sales.

I know what you mean, Villa I don’t like, Goodison I don’t mind, Brammall Lane is still my favourite old ground

As much as I despise them Elland Road

When we drew 0-0 there when they had Ferdinand etc playing for them

Straight into the Peacock pub outside the ground and got served

Got a bit lively at the Wetherspoons at the train station, which got shut down by the police

Presence of Horwich Sports Casuals and they shit themselves

Didn’t see any bolton fans giving it big licks away at villa after the semi that was pure moody, you know what to expect at Everton however I wasn’t present for the 4-0 win but apparently we took the piss that day
