Todays Games

As much as heā€™s got a face youā€™d never tire of punching, I was really impressed with Grealish against us and he played well again today. McGinn is another level though, Iā€™ve no doubt heā€™d have been in the Prem next season one way or another regardless of todayā€™s result.Ā

13th at the beginning of March to winning the play offs is a fucking mental run btw.Ā

Must be hard waking up a Sunderland fan today.Ā  Far and away the biggest team in the lower divisions, real hard core support and around January it looked like they were going to win automatic promotion at a canter.Ā  The goals and their games in hand seemed to dry up.

They've lost their last 8 consecutive Wembley appearances (& you thought our record was bad!)

I can see them winning the division by some distanceĀ next season

Part of the reason they were top was Maja scoring 15 goals. They sold him and got Will Grigg who has scored less than a Peterborough midfielder (Madison). They have Charlie Wyke too and he looks even worse. If they lose McGeady to a championship club I think Ipswich will win the league with Rotherham 2nd as they have the best manager in the division and will keep most of their championship squad.

Especially when you think Plymouth wereĀ 12th with 9 games left,Ā and managed to go down. Oxford were 2 points adrift in relegation zone with 9 games left and finished 12th. Its a more 'even' league than the championship, literally anyone couldĀ beat anyone except Luton, its a struggle to see how we'll get the players in to compete irrespective of our points deduction.

Brilliant scenes at Union Berlin, into Bundesliga for the first time in their history!

Nice one, had a cracking time when I went watching them on a stag do

Best atmosphere I've seen, excluding burnden, which given they lost 4-0 made it all the more impressive

Whatā€™s the deal with Union Berlin? Seems quite a fewĀ have gone when visiting, they sound like a Brentford or something like thatĀ

They're like an East Berlin antidote to Hertha who are much more commercialised (though still not very good). I loved Hertha when I first went over, stadium is unbelievable and support is great but then experienced Union and it blew everything else away.

Well worth reading about them, their fans gave blood to raise money to keep them afloat then got together to help actually build their stadium when it needed modernising whilst skint.

Stadium is in a forest, hard to describe the atmosphere when you're walking through at night and the floodlights shine through the trees and there's a giant pissed up party going on outside it! 3 of the 4 stands are terracing only and you can do what you want in there really.

Everything is community based, during World Cup for example they filled the pitch with old couches, got a giant screen in and turned it into a living room to watch the games. Top place.

Couple of Chelsea fans in the pub today watching the Championship playoff and they were rooting for Derby/Lampard in the first half and being very abusive to the lone Villa fan - who happens to be my mate. Second half they see John Terry in the Villa dugout and realise for the first time he's their coach. With Villa winning I've never seen allegiances switch so fast. Wankers.

Ā

Which is probably exactly the reason they were Chelsea fans. Good old Roman Obramovich, created a lot of extra Chelsea fans.

Pub I was in yesterday had about ten villa fans in and a couple of derby fans. Villa fans constantly singing whilst derby fans kept themselves to themselvesĀ

Villa fans started aiming chants and abuse towards them even at 0-0. Empty seats even made an appearance. Then started singing that everywhere we go song. Apart from to the match it seemedĀ

Final whistle goes and beer gets chucked everywhereĀ

If it needed confirming that villa are cunts then that was itĀ

Total farce this final got the atmosphere of a non league gameĀ

both sets of fans sent tickets back and I donā€™t blame themĀ

For all the negatives of the game being hosted in Baku, it does raise hopes that Robbie Savage will get lost on the way home.

It is nice of the TV companies to recreate the sensation of watching Ā from the nosebleed seats without leaving the sofa, though.Ā

Sound is like watching an old clip from the 1978 World Cup.Ā

Cant see myself lasting past half-time. Whole thing just feels like a pre-season tour game.Ā

Lets hope that UEFA will learn from hosting it in Baku but money will talk so they probably won't. Next years final is in Gdansk.
