desperado 49 Posted November 12 I’d probably do Leigh, Southport and Salford. This together with some fond memories of our 89 win has got me fairly interested...

Dr Faustus 234 Posted November 13 I thought the u21s had to play at the first team stadium for this Cup?
Roger_Dubuis 41 Posted November 13 That's my understanding Dr Faustus. Newcastle have played in front of 1,000 at St James, Middlesbrough in front of under 500 at Riverside, Chelsea have played at Stamford Bridge
Traf 2,081 Posted November 13 So did I. But I also read/heard that those U-21's couldn't be at home v an EFL team in the knockout phase. I don't understand the point/concept of this thing.
Escobarp 440 Posted November 13 Efl will allow then to do as they please. Despite being kids teams they will still carry the big club mentality

Not a chance I'd be going to any game against an U23 side but to be honest I'd probably end up at one of the others.

Me too. The annoying thing would be if (big if) we got to Wembley and played an academy side. A huge part of any cup final is the camaraderie or even animosity if its against a 'rival'. You win, you rub it in with the usual songs and have a bit of banter even if its on line. You lose and take the stick that goes with it. That cant happen against a team that literally has no fans. Its piss poor.

So whilst the sentiment is sound it may not work in practice
