Not as much as the BBC say it is, whilst scaremongering that we can't "go it alone"
tomski
Not as much as the BBC say it is, whilst scaremongering that we can't "go it alone"Id love to know. I didn't imagine it would be that high (going off that payment to EU) to make it worthwhile.

Danny G
The extra money they want us to give, will be given to the French and ze Germans in the form of a rebate. Tell them to fuck off
freds dad
So because we have got our act together and our economy is on the up we have to pay more to the EU. Perhaps we should be like some other EU countries and perform poorly. We will then get nice handouts to support us.
Mounts Kipper
Europe must be pissing there sides weve put up with this shit for so long, basically you run your affairs well and europe come with the begging bowl and say we will have some of that, we should use that money on our infrastructure/NHS/Road etc, this is economic madness and why i have voted UKIP for the last 5 years, it has to stop. Juan.Kerr
It would be interesting to know if Mrs.Merkel had to dip into her handbag again when the German economy was in its pomp.

I don't know, but I would be surprised if the Germans didn't have to contribute even more than we do. The "powerhouse" economies are always going to be on the wrong end of this sort of thing......although as countries we've all signed up for and agreed to it (as individuals we may not have, but our Government did on our behalf)

Mounts Kipper
The European union is destined for the dustbin you cannot have countries who dont wont and never had an efficient tax collecting system running alongside countries who basically the southern mediteranean countries have a blase attitude to tax while the northern european countries have efficient tax collection, the 2 are so far out of kilter it was madness someone thought it was a good idea. Maggie Tate
The agreement to cut our carbon emissions by 40% over the next fifteen years will cost us a lot more than £1.7bn. Today has made my mind up. Let's get out.

France pay twice as much I think. (I've heard this somewhere, wouldn't put my life on it). All that said, I'm anti-EU in it's current guise. It should be a trading block with no political angle to it beyond that IMO. Edit to say: latest figures I found on a quick google from 2011, us and the Dutch do worst in terms of net contribution (money paid in vs money given back). Site Supporter Spider Posted October 24, 2014 Site Supporter Share Posted October 24, 2014 Have the fucking Greeks paid us back for that bail out yet? Have they fuck. The fact I'm even considering reading the ukip policy page is a sign of how bad things just got.

Site Supporter only1swanny Posted October 24, 2014 Site Supporter Share Posted October 24, 2014 Greece have to pay more in... sums it up really.. so basically.. the underlying reason we backed out of the Euro, is still haunting us.. we're paying in to compensate underperforming countries.. DC needs to show some balls and tell them to feck off... otherwise this will escalate quickly and UKIP will gain more influence.. 1.7 billion = 30 quid from everyone in the country.. so our total payment will be roughly 170 quid per person per year... Absolute daft amount of money..
tylswhite
This will probably be the best few days in UKIP's history. I reckon loads will have their minds made up by this.
