Exiled Girl
Sorry if this has already been covered, but is everyone planning on hiring a car whilst on holiday aware of the new requirement after June 8th? http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-32481382

Traf
Is driving whilst pissed up still allowed abroad? Expected, rather than allowed. That's why they drive on the wrong side.

I will just use my Texas driving licence and my UK passport that should work . I would assume this is just in the EU, I mean is not like the EU to create an issue where one never existed would it

We were told about it as we'll be hiring a car out in South Africa to drive the Garden Route.
Smiley
Does it affect pedalo hire?

So you are saying that the UK DVLA are tell every hire company in the world how to hire cars to Brits
Exiled Girl
So you are saying that the UK DVLA are tell every hire company in the world how to hire cars to Brits I'm not saying that at all. What I am saying is that getting rid of the paper part of the driving licence (the bit with the endorsements on, is a cost cutting measure by the DVLA, in the same way that getting rid of a car tax disc is a cost cutting / money making measure by the DVLA. If you now transfer a car ownership, you can't pass on any unused portion of the car tax, even between family members. They're computerising their operation. OK, just trying to get my head around why a car hire company would give a fuck, as long as you had a licence.
Exiled Girl
OK, just trying to get my head around why a car hire company would give a fuck, as long as you had a licence. The photocard & the paper bit make up the licence, not just the card on its own. You're ok if you don't have a photocard, I think - but as I have the card, I need to get this code to show I don't have any endorsements.
