Site Supporter MickyD Posted July 2, 2015 Site Supporter Share Posted July 2, 2015 Lad has got a contract phone with Vodafone, unlimited everything, etc. He's going to Germany for six months on an internship and Vodafone want three pounds each day he used it. Seems a bit step to me. I'd there a cheaper way of doing this? I'm thinking about pay as you go for the duration or another contract phone once he's in Germany. Any advice? Any advice? £3 a day to use your phone like you are at home is not expensive at all. Stop being a mingebag. i have tried the pay n go route. the service is shit. for what he needs it for ie ringing home they are all expensive. foreign contracts are proper expensive. Any advice? don't think the £3 a day doings is meant to be for long term travellers used in lisbon recently, cost me £9 for 3 days but got text saying i'd saved £51, so it's a good deal, short term not that it's much use, but within 2 years it'll be v cheap to use phone anywhere in EU http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-33325031

Site Supporter White on Tyne Posted July 2, 2015 Site Supporter Share Posted July 2, 2015 Micky, I had the same decision to make with my daughter who's just started work at Eurodisney Paris for the summer. She's with EE and they wanted similar cost per day. For 3 months for her it works out a lot and with my lass she wanted to keep her number otherwise I agree a foreign SIM would've been the best. She has use of wifi for data and will also use watsapp and SKYPE so we decided not to pay anything and stick to ad hoc costs paying 5 per for texts and 18p per minute to call out and 5p to receive calls if she was ever in need to call. Just to compound things she arrived last Friday and had her phone and purse stolen last night from her staff locker at EuroDisney! Good start. Insured but a real pain in the arse to sort it all out. She says Walt Disney care either.

Youri McAnespie
Haven't Three got rid of roaming charges for most of Europe? As for Vodafone, default on the contract and tell 'em to fuck off.

Perhaps ask someone to buy on his behalf
