The new-builds where Cranberry Fair used to be are at the very south end of Darwen so close enough to Bolton to commute without having to go through town centre. Not for me haha

Seedy sex shop, surprised they have survived the internet era. Always remember going to Munich in the late 80s and a simililar shop (but much bigger) in the city centre was full of folk just as many women as men. We've probably caught up since thankfully, but still like to keep it 'behind closed doors' to a certain extent.

Plenty of newsagents still stock them, but I can't understand how they turn a profit or who's buying them with the internet being what it now is. Do they have good crosswords or something? As I argued in this thread about Ye Olde Pasty Shoppe, wrong location shouldn’t end a viable business because you can relocate. Both Pasty Shoppe and Campcraft could open up in places with more footfall.
Moderators Casino Posted October 25, 2020 Moderators Share Posted October 25, 2020 I suspect long established businesses own their premises Good luck selling the campcraft building for what you would need for it
Site Supporter MickyD Posted October 26, 2020 Site Supporter Share Posted October 26, 2020 I’ve never priced up one of those portal framed and cladded things so no idea what one similar in size to campcraft would be. A deal with the council and Peel Holdings for one of the empty shop units in Market Place. I reckon a floor of Debenhams will be available in next six months. athywhite1958
I went to Bolton this morning to pick some stuff up from Matchwinner, I checked opening times of Debenhams and JD sports on the internet and thought I'd have a browse and maybe spend a few quid, got there at 9.30 and they have changed the opening times of the Market hall to 10.00am, money stayed in pocket and home before 10.00 The town is deserted
jmjhb
Not strictly town centre but Amir Khan put his accountants and builder on blast due to millions mysteriously going missing. He has since deleted the tweet unfortunately, shame " The people who let it get out of hand. Accountant - salim Haji (adam&co) Project manager - ash (Ash&Sons) Qs - Phil Brassell Architect - Jahangir Arji My money is blood money and to be treated like this is very hurtful. Need a lawyer to get to bottom of this" Edited October 26, 2020 by jmjhb
