Moderators Casino Posted December 22, 2015 Moderators Share Posted December 22, 2015 (edited) now, i know theres some fickle fcukers who dip in and out, but i guess most on here are in for the long haul have you ever thought about packing it in for good i did, it was mid 80s and we were at home to leicester we hadn't won for about 6 seasons and i had a better offer it couldve been 20 year old blonde twins but actually, it was radcliffe borough away at caernarvon in a table topping clash so, the choice was made, wanderers were shite and i was going on a european tour i missed the supporters bus to welsh wales, kept walking and was in the king bill for dinner never seriously considered fooking it off since, though qpr this season pushed my buttons i've always lived near the ground so not been challenged in the way satan, for example, is, so i've had it easy i guess ps, we won Edited December 22, 2015 by Casino
Site Supporter Biggish Dave Posted December 22, 2015 Site Supporter Share Posted December 22, 2015 I've never considered packing it in for good though I did miss Villa at home (I think) in Megson's first game in charge. I really couldn't abide by that appointment and will hold my hands up, I never really gave him a chance. I'm at the moment going through a lean away spell too, I can't get excited about the league away games coming up - Leeds will be my next league away unless Eastleigh beat us and we play wolves on a Saturday. Looking forward to Eastleigh though even if it will be a same day drive there and back
famouswanderer
Ive yet to consider packing the wanderers in, i am relatively young still, however i have never had to force myself to go to a game more than Brentford @ home this season
ex_midlandwhite
I'll find it difficult to justify the outlay on a season ticket next year as I expect they will go up in cost (they need to) and living in Brum I can't make midweeks all the time. Giving up the ST will be difficult as kept it the 8 years I did in London and the 3 years done in Brum since. Saying that I'll probably end up renewing but just not sure. I've been lucky, the best decade of BWFC coincided with the decade I had most disposable income and time. If BWFC was to cease I'd not be starting again
frank_spencer
Only time I missed the bulk of home games was during my teens and having to work weekends. Can't see that changing tbh. Don't really have the spare funds to do away days, barring 1 or 2 local ones a season.

Members burnden
Had a while away due to health issues , missed going to games massively though and couldn't wait to get back..........Thought about packing in due to lack of work, family stuff and travelling from Wales to games Home and Away on my own is a bit shit and expensive ... That said i love match days so will keep going as long as i can,

I was dismayed about normid being built and the general frustration of it all and stopped for a few home games. It coincided with a very good unbeaten run strangely enough and was the start of a 20 year journey of highs I never thought were possible. Moderators Carlos Posted December 22, 2015 Moderators Share Posted December 22, 2015 I'm not for packing Bolton Wanderers in. But I am however quite happy to skip yomping to Horwich and back occasionally. All the bollocks that goes with it, pre-turnstile ticked checking by someone who rather be kicking off with me, paying £2 for a congealed blob of chocolate at the bottom of a cup, that shit record on repeat before kick off, some cunt trying to win a free cocktail at Chiquitos. I've done by bit over the last 30 years. The thought of cheering on David Wheater, Neil Danns et al, whilst they are earning more than me, nah. Eavesy
Is being patted down for all of 10 seconds really that much hard work? Edited December 22, 2015 by Eavesy
Mounts Kipper
Did the boycott game in the 80s was it Hull it game after? Ended up going to Blackburn with a couple of mates who were Reds on an all dayer didn't go to the game though. Never missed a home game while I've been in UK since that day. Guest
I can't imagine ever not going to home games. My interest in away games has waned, which is a shame as they can be great fun looking at Notts Forest
Moderators Carlos Posted December 22, 2015 Moderators Share Posted December 22, 2015 Is being patted down for all of 10 seconds really that much hard work? Never mentioned being patted down. At the moment I don't have any problem with that.
C86
Even though I rarely go (averaging one match a season), I always keep an eye on what's going on and I don't think this'll change. It's been posted on here before and very true, "The first game is the the hardest to miss". The nights spent staring at the league table ceefax worrying if we'll stay up have long gone. Guest Blixa
I drifted off in the second Premier League spell. Left me cold. I still go, but I stopped the week in, week out home and away stuff and haven't picked it back up.

I've been lucky, the best decade of BWFC coincided with the decade I had most disposable income and time. If BWFC was to cease I'd not be starting again Agreed on the ST - had one since moving here, so 21 years now, but with midweeks being tough (and with little incentive) I'm paying for summat I can't use. I still think introducing a buy back option would make sense. It wouldn't even cost them direct ready cash - it could be taken off the next ST for example (West Ham do this I believe). Thus if I could go online and knock up to 5 games on the head 24hrs before KO then get their cost taken off the next ST it would be an incentive to keep stumping up in advance. Even if it only applied to two renewed seasons on the trot and then you're back up to full cost and started again it would keep me (and others) in the ST fold. And when you pack the ST in it's the slippery slope to severely reduced attendance...and ultimately they lose out. Stopping going isn't an option as it's a bit meaningless - you can keep your eye in with a relative handful of games a year, which is what I did during the 80s living in London. Bigtoe
Started going in the 80s when it was really shit. Was spoiled in the 90s with Bruce, Todd and Big Sam. ST was ditched a few years ago during the back end of Megson and Coyle / Freedman when my daughter was much more important. Just did odd games. I restarted the season ticket last year with my daughter who enjoyed it and its carried on this year. Going back after a break confirmed i had missed it. I now enjoy going, I think as a supporter i am needed now more than ever. You cant ditch them when we are in thr shit like this.
Marc505
Been tempted, more to do with not really liking football very much anymore as a whole rather than the experiences of following Bolton about, plus its the only chance I get to see some of my mates. If we were to go bang, it'd probably be the reason I need to find something else to do with my life and money. But we wont, so I wont. Was hoping to get a ST this year, but will have to wait until next. Good that my lad now comes. He'll be starting secondary school next year and will have to go through a similar process that I did; we were shite then too and few class mates went. There'll be plenty closet reds etc to put up with but he'll hold his head high when the good times come again

I passed up way too many opportunities, and gave up the st for about five years. Am back now with two in tow. I don't want my little un to make the same mistakes I did, so hopefully I'll be giving it up again in a few years to watch him play.
