Breightmet Boy
I played in the Bolton Combination for a few seasons, so I count that as a sabbatical really, but I've not been to a game this season, but I'll be doing a few, even if I can only handle till half time like in the last few attended
beer_swiller
My first game was V Arsenal at Burnden 1963 /64 which was our relegation season, my father took me and I became a fan and a regular from that moment. I have been a regular since that game. When in the 70s I met my future missus and missed many social functions so I could attend my beloved BWFC, how the fuck she has put up with me for that long remains a mystery. I was a hooligan getting involved in many scuffles and getting myself banged up because I was BWFC through and through. When I look back I realised how stupid I was and criticise those nowadays with similar tendencies. Although I only chose my games as I find the modern game far too stressful which was my main reason to relinquish my season ticket. I found myself shouting at players for cheating and trying to get one of the opposition players sent off etc etc and defeat made me ill tempered to a point where I had to pack it in. My Saturdays are spent touring the beer scene with other camra members which I find more therapeutic and relaxing. I'm still a Wanderer and get a similar feeling when they lose but not as bad as witnessing it. How times have changed.
Naytch
i've had a season ticket since 1998-99 season (barring 18 months under Megson when i moved out of parents and couldn't afford it), but as soon as I could I was back. I'l be there next year.
Gonk
I'vo got a ST and go with a mate and his Dad. I 've missed 5 home games this season due to holidays / work / a wedding. I always used to check and book holidays around home games, No wI book the holidays first and look later as it has gone higher up my list of importance
tomski
Nope not had it yet. Can't see me having it. I find I'm under more pressure to stop the week in week out business from the FPO. May have to slow down at some point. The passion for bwfc going away, no never. My passion for football in general is waining somewhat though. RUREADY2ROLL
now, i know theres some fickle fcukers who dip in and out, but i guess most on here are in for the long haul have you ever thought about packing it in for good i did, it was mid 80s and we were at home to leicester we hadn't won for about 6 seasons and i had a better offer it couldve been 20 year old blonde twins but actually, it was radcliffe borough away at caernarvon in a table topping clash so, the choice was made, wanderers were shite and i was going on a european tour i missed the supporters bus to welsh wales, kept walking and was in the king bill for dinner never seriously considered fooking it off since, though qpr this season pushed my buttons i've always lived near the ground so not been challenged in the way satan, for example, is, so i've had it easy i guess ps, we won Ha Ha - thats when you met me; and you thought I was a miserable fucker

Burndens Bogs
I've packed in now after watching us since about 1967, i just do the odd "guest appearance" every now and then. I just wasn't enjoying the match day experience anymore. Like someone said, once you're out of the habit you don't really miss it - but i always have to check to see how we are doing every single game. Rembrandt
I have a ST and I'll be at home games as long as I can (which may not be long). Can't see me giving up on BWFC, but didn't travel up from London for home games in the 80s much, though I went to a lot of first-time away games. I still enjoy non-league games sometimes, or Accy, but it's not BW. Watch Prem on Sky, but often get bored and change channel. Take Hunt Off
Impossible for me to have a part time interest I'm bad enough when we are away & I don't go (which is often).I'd sooner go & see it for myself even if it's utter gash.Been going regularly since 1963 my only lapses were when I lived away from Bolton for two years although I did a fair few aways & in the eighties when I had three young kids & was forced to be selective ie when there were two consecutive home games & I couldn't afford both.My mate stopped going in the Megson era & I couldn't get my head round it although I could see his point of view I knew he was never coming back We can all get nostalgic about the good old days but my recollections tell me it was no picnic despite great moments. So no chance of me quitting now I'm a lifer.

gonzo
Thought about jacking completely? Probably not. But I've missed more games over the past couple of season than ever with a mixture of personal circumstance and the whole experience being utterly dog shit unless you're bladdered. The core of our lot from over this way has always been me dad and pedro. Each one of us has had enough but carries through loyalty only and non will give up completely. But each one of us misses games now we would never dream of missing years ago. The macron is just not fun anymore. But as long as my dad and Pete are still going, ill keep going and we can all hope it's just a passing phase. ....there's always a belting away day just around the corner mind. If I had the luxury of choice I'd do aways only. I wouldn't care if I never stepped foot in macron again the way it is today.
Site Supporter only1swanny Posted December 22, 2015 Site Supporter Share Posted December 22, 2015 I only go occasionally. Being a student last year stretched my money.. MancWanderer
Moving around a lot and having ups and downs financially means I alternate between uberfan and shitfan. I'll do 10 years with a ST with a load of away games as well then 5 years with only a dozen games a year but there's always that draw to the game. I couldn't give it up completely The fucking trains and the Farnworth tunnel have done for me recently. With the shit served up at The Macron a Saturday was more about a few beers in Scotts and the match fitted in so that made a mess of my plans Got divorced in 2002 and wondered what to do with two young daughters at the weekend. Got them the £50 season tickets and never looked back. They fucking love it although I'll never forget the heartbreak on the face of the youngest when Stoke relegated us. We were front row right behind the nets when THAT header in the last minute could/should have gone in Give it up? Never, but the cost nowadays means I doubt I'll ever be an uberfan again

Site Supporter RONNIE PHILLIPS Posted December 22, 2015 Site Supporter Share Posted December 22, 2015 Gave my season ticket up a couple of years ago because other commitments meant I wasn't getting my monies worth. Since then I'm finding it harder to justify forking out 20 odd quid for a game. I've been going since 71 but really find the match day experience quite tortuous these days. I miss the banter & passion of the Manny rd paddock & hate being sat with families & being expected to mind my Ps & As. There was a time when playing the filth at OT was an event not to be missed but last time I went I just went on the poss in manc then when the lads went to the game I got the train back to Bolton & watched it in the Flute with my brother...that's when I knew it was losing its pull. Will always be a Wanderer but it's the chance to get together with my old mates ( all met through following Bolton) that pulls me back now not watching bang average millionaire mercenaries. Never Me 2 but I think its because we have had 4 awful seasons and a few poor ones before. The passion will return once we get a team that looks confident and starts winning games regularly - EIEIEIO and all that. Only been three away games this season and not been the Macron since Blackpool 2-2 last game of the season. I am busy with work and based in London and cant get myself to travel at the moment but if we turn things round I will be back

Sad to here the number of folk close to giving up or already packed in, the big concern is that these people were previously diehards.
