gonzo
I'm declaring that as bullshit. Me too. Â My mrs routinely does 70-80 hours a week so I know what it takes and why it happens. Â Sitting there marking books whilst quaffing wine In front of the fire isn't working.

Pablo
Teachers dont do 100 hours a month, lazy bastards just having a laugh, and trying to hit school set targets than actually educating kids

Sweep
Medicine? Nope I'm a teacher.. My colleagues all do over 100 hours a week....  Really?  I'd be surprised if the average teacher actually "worked" for more than about 36 hours per week  -  I cant see how it's possible to get to 100 hours. Youri McAnespie
I reckon the upper limit (for a trainee) is probably between the two (36-100) - maybe around 66 hours, 70 tops. Â 100 hours? Then they're probably (definitely) overthinking it, or having a lot of teabreaks or wankbreaks*. Â Also, the day in school flies by if done right, hardly feels like a 'job' at all (if done right). Â Â Â Â Â *during planning at home, not in school, wankbreaks in school are very much frowned upon. MalcolmW
In the late 70s I was working 35 hours per week, plus very limited overtime, and spending 50 hours per week on my athletic club team manager's role. At the end of the 1978 season I knew I would have a lot of overtime in 1979, thanks to the Chancellor of the Exchequer moving the goalposts for tax relief on life assurance premiums, so gave up the club work. In 1979 I worked 3 Saturdays and 21 Sundays, mostly at short notice, as well as a few nightshifts.
Moderators Horwich Posted January 13, 2016 Moderators Share Posted January 13, 2016 How many hours do the teachers work on term time?
Youri McAnespie
Depends on the school, though 8:15ish to 4:30ish isn't uncommon...Taking full breaks isn't really done either in most places.
Site Supporter only1swanny Posted January 13, 2016 Site Supporter Share Posted January 13, 2016 No balls got it :P  Do 7-6 Monday and Tuesday 7-4 Wednesday 7-5 Thursday 7-2.30 Friday Then about 4 hours on a Sunday, maybe about 1 or 2 hours during the week. Take off 2.5 hours for lunch, leaves 52 hours ish.. I often wonder where some of the 80 hour weeks that people claim seem to come from.. I'm dyslexic and it takes me much longer than others to get things done..  I dont do any work on school Holidays... that's me taking my time back.. Levels itself out. jules_darby
Lets go and work for someone for freeIf everyone that worked the odd extra hour (without being paid overtime to get their job done) went on strike there would be more folk off than in work

Salford Trotter
Either foundation year 1 or 2. The one you usually see when first taken to a&e. Â Still qualified Doctors can be 'Junior' for their whole career should they choose to. The term Junior refers to the fact that they have not progressed into a specialism and been promoted....HTH Edited January 14, 2016 by Salford Trotter
