Members bolty58
Hope you got your saver on Almandin Bolty? I did mate and also got the Trifecta paying $1541.00. I boxed 5 for the trifecta - obviously the 3 placings plus Qewy and Jameka. The fucking first 4 dividend was 24K and it never crossed my mind to do it. As Stevie says 'Boo, Bolty out'. Sit him outside with a fucking dunce's cap on! Well done Traf.
zurichwhite
Nice one Bolty and Traf. Was a bit gutted for the runner up jockey Moreira, he's the main man in HK and his rides always get heavily punted
enzo gambaro
Fuck me, I know they never hang about but that looked brutal up front. I knew Big Orange's goose was cooked after the first quarter mile. Good shout on Qewy, Traf - lump on for the Coral Cup now? Hell of an effort from Heartbreak City - started the season winning a Cork handicap off 88 before picking up a maiden hurdle at Tipperary; finished it going within a head of an Ebor/Melbourne Cup double. He's a tinker, that Tony Martin.
Traf
I'd want to hear from Charlie about Qewys wellbeing first.
Members bolty58
Fuck me, I know they never hang about but that looked brutal up front. I knew Big Orange's goose was cooked after the first quarter mile. Good shout on Qewy, Traf - lump on for the Coral Cup now? Hell of an effort from Heartbreak City - started the season winning a Cork handicap off 88 before picking up a maiden hurdle at Tipperary; finished it going within a head of an Ebor/Melbourne Cup double. He's a tinker, that Tony Martin. Oddly Enzo, they crawled last year (I was there and they cantered for the first half of the race). This is why 100-1 shot Prince of Penzance won rather than what should have (Max Dynamite). This year the pace was on and brutal describes it perfectly. That Williams family are very astute and he has become the "most winning" owner now but the connections of Heartbreak City were chuffed as fuck to place Very impressed - they described Tony Martin down here as a handicap genius. Qewy was a great run after a sound win in the Geelong Cup. Would have to see how the travelling home affects him before investing again? Members bolty58
Charlie Appleby blitzed them again today in the Queen Elizabeth Stakes over 2600m on the last day of the Flemington Carnival. Francis of Assisi ridden by William Buick brained them by 10 lengths https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Pdy6-Y0TG0 Traf - if you are interested in Qewy's next assignment, he will race in the Sandown Cup next weekend at the traditional wind up meeting of the Victorian Racing Carnival. Traf
Yes, he's bypassing the Zipping Classic, which Almandin is now set to compete.
Members bolty58
Yes, he's bypassing the Zipping Classic, which Almandin is now set to compete. Interestingly, the horse who ran 5th in the Cup this year just behind Qewy in 4th (Who Shot The Barman) won the Zipping Classic by a street last year after running in the Cup. Like Zipping, WSTB loves that Sandown track.

Members bolty58
Aye, I had Qewy and Mortons Fork. Didn't get Beautiful Romance - was on Almoonqith which lost out in a tight photo finish. Profitable day so no complaints.
Members bolty58
Besides Almoonqith, the other one I like at decent odds is Almandin. For no other reason than it is owned by Lloyd Williams who owns the Crown Casino in both Melbourne and Perth and has an amazing knack of knocking off these big races fairly frequently. It won its lead up race by panels of fencing and you must always factor in Williams' owned horses into your calculations. Almoonqith and Almandin will only be saver bets for me. The big result will (obviously) be Jameka. Just bumping this because Almandin is bucking its brand off and registered an astonishing win last Saturday when winning by a street carrying 61kgs. My advice would be to get on for a repeat win this year in the big one. From what I have seen, if you can get EW odds it looks as solid a Melbourne Cup bet you could get, I'll probably be backing it to win. Members bolty58
Cheers for that 11/2 here at present gutted we move out of Melbourne on the Sunday as the race is on the Tuesday. ......and, that Saturday is the best racing day in Australia each year and one of the best in the world. Victoria Derby Day. Sensational - every race a Group race. Can you make that one? Well worth it mate - usually more than 100,000 on. Other fancies for the Cup are Admire Deus, Red Cardinal, Bonneval, Aloft, Humidor and Big Duke.

Members bolty58
I’m seeing it has drifted out to 7/1 today .is there any negative news out in Australia Not really mate. It went round in a 2500m race last weekend and ran 4th but was a non tryer to my eye. This particular trainer/owner combination are famous for it. Put no work into them and use the lead up races as the tune ups before having it cherry ripe on the day. Still a huge chance and I am waiting for even better odds before pouncing. One to watch for - Amelie's Star. Trained by Darren Weir who is arguably Australia's best for the last few years and won the Cup two years back. Brought this one through beautifully and has it in with a featherweight of 51kgs. Been very skilful with placement to avoid weight penalties and it won the race in which Almandin ran fourth. This will almost certainly be my saver bet.

Members bolty58
Sorry mate - not been looking in this section. Yes, it ran a fucking horror race in the Caulfield Cup and ran last. Not even sure if it will go round on the first Tuesday now. They have been falling like flies. Japanese entrant Admire Deus had some sort of major injury (a couple of years ago their Admire Rakti won the Caulfield Cup and dropped dead during the following week so fuck knows what the Japs are injecting them with!):- http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/superracing/vets-to-make-call-on-whether-to-euthanise-admire-deus-today/news-story/39390d4d7802a44cd101daecdfc3a271 I have been steadfast with Almandin and got another $500 on at 7's this week. The opposition is starting to fall away. I am however awaiting something to come out of the woodwork over the next two weekends. The owners and connections of Almandin are famous for unearthing some recently purchased European stayer and suddenly propelling it on to the scene with 1-2 weeks to go to the big one. Exactly what they did last year with Almandin itself. If they have some lightweight chance in on the first Tuesday which has won either the Moonee Valley Cup OR the Lexus Stakes at Flemington, be wary. Members bolty58
Enjoy mate. No doubt you'll already have found the Crown complex? Emporio Dalla Pasta an excellent eatery in there but Melbourne is full of them (if you find your way out to Lygon Street you'll see what I mean). One of the highest rated Viet restaurants in Oz is close to Moonee Valley racetrack in Moonee Ponds. It's called the Hot Chilli and is close to the end of Puckle Street right where the tram stops. Completely unassuming place you'd never know about unless someone told you. I was introduced to it by friends in the racing game. Cheap but truly excellent food. BYO booze, no booking necessary - if you find yourself out that way, give it a try mate. You will thank me for the recommendation, I guarantee you! Awards all over the wall and yet 80% of Melbourne wouldn't know about it. The Cox Plate was sold out today so you couldn't have got in anyway. The best days racing in Australia is next Saturdays VRC Derby Day. If you can attend..........do it! Over 100,000 on and a phenomenal day of Group racing.
