Having the option of some genuine pace up front would be a real bonus for us as teams would be less inclined to compress play in our half and less inclined to press forward in numbers for fear of leaving space behind. Problem is genuinely pacy forwards who can finish like Vardy cost an absolute fortune, so there's mileage in trying to convert a winger to play up the middle or at 10. Over the last few years we've really been under the cosh defensively and it's been like the Alamo at times with a compressed game and the ball coming back again and again so anything that would make them think twice about pressing us too high in numbers would be a great option IMO. Whether we can afford to go down that route or even whether Hill would want it is another story, but we'll see.

Not sure that Dodoo is the answer though as he's shit and can't finish.

What we need is someone like a Tyler Walker or a Chris long or a viv Solomon otomobor or a Kanye Woolley

What about Connor Hall, would like to see him used as a sub a bit towards the ends of matches when we're 3 or 4 nil up, get a bit of experience from the 2 elder statesmen strikers we signed yesterday.

Is he injured at the mo?

Being 3 or 4 nil up would be a dream at anytime, in the current circumstances it would be a miracle 😊😊

I hate it when fan demand we have pace in the team. It means fuck all.

The ball moves faster than any player.

Have the first yard in your head and you don't need to be lightening quick.

Obviously, I don't want any players that look like they're treading water either.

A classic example was Paul Scholes.

Was talking to someone once, who had either played against him/or knew someone that had.

Said his timing, touch and movement was sensational. Didn't have to have a mega sprint in him.

He didn’t, but it helped that he had players around him that could shift.

Nathan Blake had a lot of pace but he had raw power to go with it. That's a killer combination. David Lee was quick but the delivery at the end of it wasn't always guaranteed, Mark Gavin was lightening but none of the team at the time knew how to make the most of it ... Mark Fish on the defensive side of things before he lost interest.

I’d still like some quick players.

True. They still needed end product and generally had it.

Hopefully Hill is trying to replicate this albeit in a lower level.

Quite interested in his ideas of how he wants to play.
